Wilton sewer upgrade to unlock 8000 more homes
The NSW Government is pressing ahead with the next stage of water and wastewater infrastructure for Wilton, with works set to support about 8,000 homes and businesses across the growing south-west Sydney community.
The NSW Government is pressing ahead with the next stage of water and wastewater infrastructure for Wilton, with works set to support about 8,000 homes and businesses.
Wilton Stage 2 will provide water and wastewater services for about 4,000 new homes, doubling the total servicing capacity across Wilton to around 8,000 homes and businesses.
The announcement builds on major works already underway through Wilton Stage 1, which includes upgrades to the existing Wilton Water Resource Recovery Facility and the construction of new pumping stations, reservoirs and pipelines.

As part of the latest milestone, Sydney Water has awarded Haslin Constructions the contract to upgrade the Wilton Water Resource Recovery Facility.
The upgrade will significantly increase local wastewater treatment capacity to support future growth while helping reduce truck movements through the area.
Planning and design for Stage 2 is now underway, with Sydney Water also partnering with NSW Government property developer Landcom on its North Wilton development.
Minister for Water Rose Jackson said the project would ensure essential infrastructure kept pace with housing growth.
"We need and want more homes but they can't be built without the essential pipes and pumps that support them," Ms Jackson said.
"For too long, a lack of investment in essential infrastructure has created headaches for housing growth. Our Government is doing things differently.
"We're making sure water and wastewater services keep pace with demand, giving thousands more families an opportunity to call Wilton home."

Member for Wollondilly Judy Hannan said the project was a major milestone for the rapidly growing community.
"I acknowledge this is a significant milestone for this growing community in Wollondilly. A long-standing problem with housing growth in areas with inadequate but necessary water and sewer services has been solved," Mrs Hannan said.
"The community can look forward to another Wilton infrastructure project moving from planning stage to construction stage.
"When completed, this essential sewer infrastructure project will put an end to Wilton Green residents having their sewerage collected and transported out by trucks.
"Also, this exciting announcement will have capacity to service new home approvals in the future to about 8,000 new homes in total across the three estates in Wilton."
Wollondilly Shire Mayor Matt Gould welcomed the investment, saying it would deliver critical infrastructure to support the area's future.
"Water and wastewater services are fundamental to supporting sustainable growth, and this investment is another important step in ensuring Wilton has the infrastructure it needs as the community continues to expand," he said.
Sydney Water Managing Director Darren Cleary said Wilton was one of Australia's fastest-growing communities and the utility was delivering the infrastructure needed to support that growth.
"Five new reservoirs are nearing completion, a new pumping station is about to be commissioned, and we're on track to connect Wilton High School before it opens," Mr Cleary said.
"Recycled water will also be supplied to the school's grounds, Hannaford Oval and Bingara Gorge Golf Course, helping make the most of this valuable resource."
Stage 2 is in the early planning and design phase, with planning and pre-delivery activities now underway.
