Work starts on new schools in Wilton
Construction work has started on new education facilities in Wilton including a high school, public school and public pre-school.

Construction work has started on new education facilities in Wilton including a high school, public school and public pre-school.
The new schools will ensure families in the rapidly growing area have access to world-class education from pre-school to Year 12 without having to travel.
The high school will be the first to be built in Wilton and only the second public high school in Wollondilly.
Deputy Premier Pru Car and Member for Wollondilly Judy Hannan have both been recognised for their advocacy and for their efforts in helping to progress these projects.
The new high school will be built in stages with a three-storey building containing 12 classrooms to be ready for the start of the 2027 school year along with a modern library, a full-sized sports field and a sports court.
Additional buildings will be ready for use at the start of the 2028 school year including more classrooms, a school hall, vocational education facilities and two more sports courts.
When completed the school will be able to cater for 1000 students.
High school students from Wilton currently have to travel 16 kilometres to attend Picton High School.
The public primary school will feature 27 classrooms along with a library, a school hall and covered outdoor learning area.
The primary school will be able to cater for 550 enrolments while the co-located preschool will cater for 120 children per week.
Mrs Hannan said it was “fantastic” to see work underway on the new schools.
“It has been a long time since Wollondilly received brand new infrastructure,” she said.
Principal of the new high school, Hala Ramadan, said her goal was to establish a school culture while acknowledging and honouring the area’s rich cultural heritage.
“Together we will build a school that not only delivers outstanding academic outcomes but also prepares young people to lead purposeful, fulfilling lives grounded in respect, inclusion and shared responsibility,” she said.
Principal of the new primary school Karen Sellick said it was a “rare and exciting opportunity” to establish a new primary school from the ground up.
“I look forward to building an educational setting of excellence, equity and inclusion, together with Hala Ramadan and the Wilton community, to empower all children to reach their potential,” she said.
