For the last week of the school holidays, some great activities and events to attend including markets, cycling, hockey championships, cars and coffee and more across the regions.

SOUTHERN HIGHLANDS

FRIDAY OCTOBER 9

Celebrating 50 years at the Berrima District Museum - 1976 to 2026

Join the Berrima Museum for their 50th birthday exhibition this weekend.

Featuring an interactive and visual experience, relive some of the 1970s memories and see how the Southern Highlands has changed, even over a 50 year period.

The Berrima District Museum is open from 10am to 3pm (even on school and public holidays), and is located at 1 Market Place, Berrima.

SATURDAY OCTOBER 10

Introduction to Natural Sequence Farming Field Day

This event will be held at the Sutton Forest Village Hall this Saturday from 9am to 3:30pm.

This field day introduces Natural Sequence Farming (NSF) and its five pillars, and is also hosted at the beautiful Summer Dell Farm in Exeter.

The day will start at Sutton Forest Hall for an introduction to what NSF is and how it works, then everyone heads out to Summer Dell Farm to see the principles in action on the ground.

Then at 12 noon head to Summer Dell Farm for a guided tour of the works implemented on the property.

Roy Baker of Rosella Regen, who has been carrying out the works on site, will walk everyone through what’s been done, why it was done that way, and how the plan is evolving as the landscape responds over time.

You’ll see firsthand how the landscape has been read, the reasoning behind each intervention, and what’s planned as the works continue to develop.

The Sutton Forest Hall is located at 7414 Illawarra Highway, Sutton Forest, and Summer Dell Farm is at 136 Exeter Rd, Exeter (look for the two eagle statues on the gate posts).

Morning tea is provided, but lunch is bring your own (BYO).

Robertson Country Markets

Held on the second Sunday of every month, the Robertson Country Markets are on again this Sunday from 8:30am to 2pm.

They are usually held at the Robertson School of Arts at 55 Hoddle St, Robertson.

FRIDAY OCTOBER 9

Circus Skills Workshop

This event will be held at The Hip Joint in Menangle St, Picton today with hourly sessions from 11am to 2pm.

In this hands-on workshop children will have the chance to try a range of circus skills, including hula hoops, juggling balls, clubs, rings and scarves, spinning plates, trick sticks and more.

Led by a professional circus trainer, the session is designed to encourage coordination, confidence and creativity through active play.

No previous experience is needed - just come along ready to learn some new tricks and have fun!

The event is suitable for kids aged 6 to 12.

Held in joint partnership with Picton Alive, The Hip Joint and Circus Monoxide.

Tickets are only $5 for each 1 hour session, or $10 for a family of three.

SATURDAY OCTOBER 10

Arts Alive Festival, Picton

To be hosted all afternoon and evening this Saturday from 12 noon to 9pm, the Arts Alive Festival is on again in Picton’s main street and surrounding areas.

The event will feature a vibrant street party, live performances, hands-on workshops and stunning visual light displays, along with roving artists, markets and food trucks in the centre of Picton.

The Festival is also funded by the NSW Government’s Open Streets Program, led by Transport for NSW.

SUNDAY OCTOBER 11

Picton Cars & Coffee

On again this Sunday from 7am to 9:30am, the Picton Cars and Coffee event is being held at the Walton St Car Park.

Grab a coffee and other breakfast items from one of the local cafes such as Picton Social, Moses Barnes, Denada’s Cafe & more.

After a sensational turn up for their past get togethers they are looking forward to seeing you all again.

There will also be a BBQ hosted by Think of the Five Arrive Alive.

Hockey NSW Indoor State Championship – Open Men

To be held across the whole weekend, the Hockey NSW Indoor State Championships – Open Men will be hosted at the Veolia Arena at the Goulburn Recreation Area on Braidwood Rd.

Hockey NSW comprises 27 associations and approximately 30,000 registered hockey players in regional and metropolitan NSW.

The player base represents men, women, boys and girls ranging from five years of age in introductory programs to players aged over 65 in Masters programs.

Hockey NSW is even prouder of the fact that hockey can be considered the only true family game.

Competitors will be travelling from as far away as the Nepean, Parkes, Illawarra, South Coast, Sydney, Dubbo, Grafton, Bathurst, Port Macquarie, and Newcastle as well as the local Goulburn teams.

The Veolia Arena is located at 47 Braidwood Rd, Goulburn.

Goulburn Rotary Parkside Markets

Held on the second Saturday of every month on Montague St, outside the Goulburn Courthouse and adjacent to Belmore Park, the Rotary Parkside Markets are on again this Saturday from 8:30am to 1:30pm.

A project of the Goulburn Rotary Club, at the markets you will find something for each of your senses – coffee, flowers, food, preserves, plants, candles, jewellery and so much more.

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 11

2026 Goulburn Great Divide ITT & Road Champs (U19, U23, NSW Elite & Masters Riders)

Hosted from 9:30am to 4pm on both Saturday and Sunday, the Goulburn Great Divide Race is a road race commencing at the church in Breadalbane (22kms south of Goulburn, just off the Hume Highway) and then a race on the Old Hume Highway towards Gunning, then turn around and back again the same way.

The rolling countryside and excellent road conditions offer some challenges, with only a few hills.

This road is also used for the Goulburn Interclub race, Southern Division race and the annual Goulburn Junior 2 Day Tour and is to be used for the NSW State Championships for NSW Elites, Under 23, Under 19 & Masters for Individual Time Trial and Road races in the 2026 Great Divide event.

The weekend will run the same as last year with the ITT and TTT on Saturday and the Road Race on the Sunday.

With several Goulburn Cycle Club (GCC) riders tackling the ITT and Road Race, as well as having a TTT women's team, it's set to be a great weekend of racing! If you are able to help out, please reach out and let Cooper Smith know on 0422 631 551 or Graeme Northey on 0408 482 828.

Murrumbateman Village Market

The Murrumbateman Village Market is a friendly market close to Canberra and Yass on the Barton Highway, specialising in local fresh food and crafts and held on the second and fourth Saturday of the month.

The market sells a wide range of local crafts, pottery and handmade goods, as well as organic vegetables, local produce from local gardens, plus bread, cakes, pastries, jams, honey, sauces, chillies, a range of meats, olives and olive oil, native plants, local winemakers and more.

On again are the Binalong Community Markets, held every second Sunday of the month at Binalong’s Café on Queen from 10am to 1pm.
