Golden Vale Garden History Tour

Historic Sutton Forest homestead Golden Vale will be hosting Garden History Tours this Saturday throughout the course of the day.

The tours will be guided by their experienced gardener Nicholas Robinson, who will take visitors through the lesser seen parts of the homestead’s garden and also share his passion for the plants, the legacy they represent and more.

After the garden tour, the homestead itself will be open for viewing and a light lunch will also be served.

Tours will be conducted at 10:30 – 11:30am, 11:30am – 12:30pm and 12:30pm – 1:30pm.

Golden Vale Homestead is located at 278 Golden Vale Road, Sutton Forest.

Robertson Country Markets

Held on the second Sunday of every month from 8:30am to 2pm, the Robertson Country Markets are on again this Mother’s Day Sunday at the School of Arts in Hoddle St.

It will be the perfect opportunity to purchase the perfect gift for Mum, or even to just buy her her favourite coffee, spend some quality time pottering around the stalls, and let her enjoy herself.

Mother's Day Market at The Store Menangle

There will be a Mother’s Day Market tonight at The Store Menangle from 4:30pm – 8:30pm.

With heaps of stalls on offer for Mums and families to purchase the perfect gift for Sunday, as well as loaded burgers, tacos, wings, pasta, slow cooked dishes and plenty of other good food on the menu, it’s guaranteed to be a great night.

Picton Parkrun

Every Saturday from 7:55am – 9am, the Picton Parkrun meet up at the Picton Botanic Gardens (via the Cliffe St entrance).

Runners start from 8am, with a short briefing beforehand from 7:55am, and then they embark on a 5km course and can either walk, jog or run, with no pressure. The event is open to all ages and abilities, and is entirely run by volunteers. To register and have your run timed, visit https://www.parkrun.com.au/register/. Picton Cars & Coffee

Meeting every second Sunday in Davison’s Lane, the Picton Cars & Coffee event is on again this Sunday from 7 – 9am.

This Sunday there will be a special Mother’s Day BBQ run in partnership with Think of the Five Arrive Alive, with every food purchase scoring a raffle ticket to go into a draw to win a Mother’s Day hamper.

The raffle will be drawn at the end of proceedings at 9am.

Food will be available for between $4 and $8.

Goulburn Open Mic Night, The Goulburn Club

Every second Friday of the month, The Goulburn Club hosts an Open Mic Night where local teenagers and adults alike can showcase their musical skills through the playing of an instrument or through song, poetry or even stand-up comedy.

Soloists and groups also regularly appear at most meets and there is a great deal of variety in the program each time.

A PA system is available to use and each act is given usually around 10 to 15 minutes to perform.

All attendees need to do is turn up and put their name on the whiteboard to secure their spot.

The event runs from 7:30pm – 11pm, and is located at 19 Market St, Goulburn, opposite Belmore Park and next door to Goulburn Soldier’s Club. Contact them on 4821 2043 or email secretary@goulburnclub.com.au for more information.

Goulburn North Public School Family Fireworks

The annual Goulburn North Public School family fireworks event is on again this year, running from 4pm to 9pm in the grounds of Goulburn North Public School.

There will be all the traditional rides and favourite events on for the kids as well as showbags this year with NRL merchandise and a special GNPS showbag packed with goodies from all of their sponsors.

There will also be food vans and a BBQ, plus market stalls plus kids activities and entertainment as well as raffles and fundraising fun.

Then to conclude the evening, a spectacular fireworks display lights up the night sky.

Every ticket purchased helps raise valuable funds to improve learning spaces for the school’s students now and into the future.

Tickets are $7 for Adults, Child (3-15 years) $5, infants (0-2 years) free, with a family ticket (2 adults, 2 children) only $19.

Marulan & District (MaD) Cars and Coffee

The all new Marulan & District Car Club (MaDCC) has launched Marulan’s ‘MaD Cars and Coffee Meetup’ along George Street (the main street) in Marulan from 8.30am-11am on the second Sunday of every month.

All owners and their cars and even members of the public who are car fans are welcome to come along for a coffee, chat and look on in admiration of everyone’s ‘pride and joy’.

There’s also a ‘People’s Choice’ prize on offer, with two prizes – a $100 fuel voucher from MAD Automotive, or a small meat tray from Marulan Meats.

Crago Mill Open Day

Yass Valley residents will get their first official look inside the new Crago Mill precinct this Saturday, with council hosting a community open day to mark the official opening.

The event will be held at the site on Comur Street, with a ribbon cutting scheduled for 9.30am.

The precinct brings together council services, a new library, community spaces and an emergency operations centre in one location, replacing the old administrative setup.

Locals will be able to walk through the new facilities, take part in activities in the library and enjoy a sausage sizzle at a community barbecue.

A silent auction of surplus council furniture will also be held in the old customer service building from 10am to 1pm, with a second sale planned for May 16.

Crago Mill is located at the old Council administration site at 209 Comur St.

Yass Fire Station Open Day

The annual Yass Fire Station Open Day is back, running from 10am to 2pm.

Entry is free and also includes a free lunch time sausage sizzle.

Meet the station’s crew, check out the trucks, go behind the scenes in the fire shed, and there will also be live demonstrations as well as fire safety information on hand that is worth knowing.

The Yass Fire Station is located at 90 Meehan St, Yass.

The event is hosted by Fire and Rescue NSW Station 511 Yass, who have been servicing the community of Yass and surrounds for over 100 years.

Sutton Village (Mother’s Day) Country Markets

Every second Sunday of the month from 9am – 1:30pm, the Sutton Village Country Markets are held at Sutton Oval.

There’s fresh local produce, unique handmade and homegrown products for Mum, and a wide range of delicious food.

Also enjoy live entertainment, family friendly activities, and a welcoming pet friendly environment.

Sutton is only 8kms from the NSW/ACT border off the Federal Highway.
