SOUTHERN HIGHLANDS
FRIDAY MAY 1
Music Cafe By Night – SNEZ – folksinger/songwriter/storyteller
The second event in the Robertson CTC’s Music Café by Night concert series, is Macedonian born- folk singer SNEZ, who emigrated to Australia with her family in the 1970s and lived at Port Kembla under the shadow of the Steelworks, will perform some of her own songs about hardship, romance, work ethic, the poverty of Macedonia and more.
SNEZ released her debut album Gypsy Soul way back in 2009, and since then has travelled around Australia with guitar in hand singing in school halls, initimate house concerts, festivals, and even at refugee camps and camp fires along her way.
This year sees the release of her sixth album with another Australian tour and a debut tour of the UK.
The event runs from 7pm – 9pm, (with the cafe open from 6:30pm).
The CTC Cafe and fundraising bar will be open as usual for drinks and snacks.
Tickets for this event are $25 for adults and $20 for concessions, with children under 16 for a gold coin donation.

Colo Vale Village Market
It’s time once again for the monthly Colo Vale Markets, traditionally held on the first Saturday of every month from 8:30am – 1:30pm.
Held at the Colo Vale Community Hall, the markets host a variety of stalls including fresh produce, Devonshire teas, home crafts and delicious home cooked food, along with a great BBQ menu and coffee truck.
While there, also check out the historic Railway Station which is opposite the Community Hall, and is being redeveloped by Transport Heritage NSW as part of the Loop Line renewal project, extending the line down to Colo Vale.

Vivace Berrima – Musical Charisma
With the beautiful vocals and music from concert artist Elizabeth ‘Libby’ Cooper and accompaniment by master musician John Martin, get along to the Holy Trinity Anglican Church Hall in Berrima this Sunday for the ‘Vivace Berrima- Musical Charisma’ concert.
Ms. Cooper and Mr. Martin will perform classical music from such composers as Mozart, Rossini and Bizet, as well as slightly more ‘jazz-like’ music from composers such as Hoagy Carmichael and Jason – Robert Brown and more.
The event starts at 2:30pm.
Guests can also enjoy a glass of wine and canapes post performance.

‘All Childish Things’ by Picton Theatre Group
Tonight sees the opening night of the Picton Theatre Group (PTG)’s new show, ‘All Childish Things,’ directed by Yasmin Stenson and Matthew Field at the Wollondilly Shire Hall.
The theatre group describes it this way:
“All Childish Things is a fast-paced, darkly comedic heist play that follows a group of lifelong friends - obsessed with Star Wars memorabilia - who decide to rob a warehouse full of rare
collectibles. What begins as a nerdy fantasy, quickly spirals into a chaotic, high-stakes operation that tests their friendship, maturity, and moral compass. “It’s ‘Ocean’s Eleven’ meets ‘Clerks,’ with lightsabers, betrayal, and a whole lot of emotional baggage.”
The show will run from 7pm – 10pm with dinner and matinee shows running every weekend through until May 16.

Steam Train Rides at NSW Rail Museum, Thirlmere
In preparation for the upcoming Steamfest in two weeks time, the NSW Rail Museum at Thirlmere are hosting their usual 40-minute steam train ride to Buxton and return throughout the day, as well as access to the museum.

Canberra and Region Heritage Festival 2026: 'In their Honour' a Century of Remembrance at Rocky Hill, Goulburn
As part of the Canberra and Region Heritage Festival for 2026, Goulburn is hosting several events including this event at the Rocky Hill War Memorial and Museum.
This exhibition explores the origins of the Rocky Hill War Memorial, built 100 years ago, as a lasting tribute to those from Goulburn and the district who served during the Great War (WWI).
Through rarely seen portraits, photographs, and objects from the Museum’s collection, many of which are on public display for the first time, it also reflects on the experiences of service personnel and those on the home front.
These stories of dedication, sacrifice, and resilience reveal the profound local impact of global conflict and its role in shaping contemporary Australia.
The Museum and Memorial Tower are open on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday & Wednesday, as well as on all Public Holidays and School Holidays.
The exhibition runs from 10am –4pm through until Sunday May 10.
The Heritage Festival also contains guided history walks around the CBD of Goulburn, a detailed tour of the Goulburn Performing Arts Centre ‘Past Lives of a Theatre, A Heritage Tour’; The Goulburn Wetlands – From Brickworks to Wetlands, a series of Self Guided Historic Walks across Goulburn from History Goulburn; Goulburn’s Historic Cemeteries Self -Guided Tours; Gallery on Track within the Historic 19th Century Railway Barracks; Goulburn’s Historic Waterworks Museum; the ‘Echoes from Scotland: A Baroque Mystery’ as well as a ‘Baroque Scottish Music Exhibition’ at Riversdale Homestead; and a Goulburn Club Historic Tour.

St Saviour's Community Markets
That’s right, the monthly St. Saviour’s Community Markets are on again in the hall and grounds of St Saviour’s Cathedral in the heart of Goulburn this Saturday from 9am to 1pm.
With the usual delicious gourmet BBQ and a variety of market stalls selling everything from local produce, wines, honey, candles, jams, cakes and slices, plants, antiques, bric a brac, knitwear for the whole family, and lots of jewellery including rings, necklaces and watches, your’e bound to find something for not only Mum for Mother’s Day, but for the whole family.

Tarago Medieval Faire
Step into a world of knights, battles and medieval life when the Tarago Medieval Faire returns to the Tarago Showgrounds this Sunday from 9:30am – 4pm.
This one-day event promises an action-packed program for the whole family, featuring Australia’s only historical solid lance joust.
Watch as fully armoured knights charge on horseback, aiming to shatter solid pine lances in a display of skill, speed and precision.
New to the program in 2026 is the inaugural Australian Harnischfechten Championships, where armoured fighters will compete on foot using swords, spears and poleaxes to determine Australia’s first champion.
There will also be a medieval market and bar serving local beers and craft beverages.
Courtesy buses will also run from Tarago town centre throughout the day.

Cooma Cottage Open Day & Historic Dance Delights
National Trust ran Cooma Cottage at Yass, once the home of former Australian explorer Hamilton Hume, will be hosting their Open Day this Saturday as part of the Australian Heritage Festival celebrations.
The day will run from 10am to 12 noon, and will consist of guided house tours, lively period dance performances and a delicious Devonshire Tea served in the café.
The guided house tours will share stories of the people who lived and worked at Cooma Cottage and the changes that this special place has seen over the years.
Also, be enthralled by the romance and the splendour of historic dance, brought to life by the talented Historic Dance Delights group.

Murrumbateman business Win’s Creek Meadery will be hosting a honey – themed morning tea along with stories from local historians this Sunday from 10:30am – 11:30am.
Mead is an ancient alcoholic beverage made primarily from honey, water, and yeast, with a wide range of flavours, alcohol content, and styles.
The building that houses Win’s Creek Meadery and Bindaree Bee Supplies, the Traveller’s Rest Inn, dates as far back as 1879 and has a lot of history behind it.
