Christmas in July events, markets, agricultural sales and much more are on across the regions this weekend, which also heralds the start of the Winter school holidays.

SOUTHERN HIGHLANDS
FRIDAY JULY 3
Australian Poetry Slam – Southern Highlands Heat
Every year, since 2007, Word Travels has been running Australian Poetry Slam (APS) heats in over 60 locations across the Asia-Pacific.
Poets have 2 minutes to perform an original work on stage at the Bowral Memorial Hall.
This APS Heat audience will send two writers to represent the Southern Highlands (and Southern Tablelands) in a performance at the NSW Final.
The top 16 in the country then make it to the National Final at Sydney Opera House on the 25th of October.
The night will be hosted by Hani Abdile from Word Travels.
Ms. Abdile is a Somali-born spoken-word artist and cultural activist whose words resonate with raw emotion and social consciousness.
Doors open/poets sign-up from 6:30pm, with the slam starting at 7:00pm.
Tickets are $20 to participate or be part of the audience.

Christmas In July ‘Ugly Sweater’ Party
Break out the worst (or best) Christmas jumper you have and get on down to the Robertson Public House and Kitchen this Saturday evening from 7pm – 10pm for this free event.
Celebrate Christmas in July with live music from Total Rewind and great food and drinks available from the pub’s extensive menu and bar.

Bundanoon Makers Market
Traditionally held on the first and third Sunday of every month, the Bundanoon Makers Markets are on again this Sunday at the Soldiers Memorial Hall in Railway Parade from 8:30am – 2pm.
The market is crammed with arts, crafts and music, fresh local produce, breads, eggs, and honey, plus a glorious selection of homemade cakes, jams, chutneys and sauces.
Their delicious food stalls also serve up fare with an international flavour, including a range of ready-made take-home meals, and of course they have a coffee van for your morning caffeine hit!
It’s also a market for the craftsmith, with sewers, knitters, woodworkers, photographers, leatherwork, and silver jewellery makers selling their wares.

The Wollondilly Heritage Centre & Museum
Open every weekend and public holiday from 10am to 3pm, the Wollondilly Heritage Centre and Museum is located in The Oaks.
The Wollondilly Heritage Centre and Museum is a repository for archives, records and objects relating to the early development of the villages in the Wollondilly Shire area.
Exhibitions on display incorporate these objects and include the stories of the shire’s early pioneers and how they shaped life in the local area.
Included in the collection are extensive photographic records, memorabilia, family history and local history, specialised collections such as photos of Burragorang, Yerranderie, coal mining and indigenous history of the Gundungurra people.
Entry Fees to the museum are Adults $3, Children $1, and Families $7.

Bush Traditions - OZ Music Sessions, The Goulburn Club
An evening of Australian Bush Traditional music – songs, dance, tunes, poems and more. The Goulburn Club encourage participation, so bring voices and instruments and join in on the first Friday of each month.
A booklet of local dance tunes has been compiled to use at the sessions, or you can join in and sing along by ear. Also, each month has a theme to focus interest on where songs and poems are hunted out, practised and performed, reflecting a different aspect of their heritage.

Christmas in July - AAA NSW Region Alpaca Colour Show 2026
The Alpaca Association of Australia (AAA) NSW Region Alpaca Colour Show is coming to Goulburn!
This time it’s with a twist - the ‘Christmas Carnival of Colour’.
The Show will be ‘Christmas in July’ - themed, and the fun doesn’t stop there! Alpacas offered for sale in The Breeders Choice Auction will be exhibited or on display at the show, with exhibitors also getting into the spirit dressing up and wearing Christmas hats in the ring.
Exhibitors will be coming from all over NSW, with some interstate breeders making the trek to Goulburn to take part in the Carnival of Colour Show. Breeders will be available to answer any questions and supply information to anyone interested in becoming part of the alpaca world, so get excited and immerse yourself in everything Alpaca.
The event will be held at the Goulburn Recreation Area, 47 Braidwood Rd, Goulburn from 8:30am – 4:30pm on both Saturday and Sunday.

Bungonia Sunday Breakfast
Usually run on the first and third Sunday of every month from 9am to 11am at the Bungonia Progress Association Hall, The Bungonia Cafe is run by the Bungonia Progress Association along with other local volunteers.
It’s a not-for-profit run by the community with all proceeds going to the Bungonia Progress Association Inc to help with the costs of keeping the hall open to the public.
They serve delicious country cooking including their signature English Big Breakfast for only $12, a Bacon & Egg Roll, scrambled eggs or pancakes with maple syrup, cream, jam, and butter for only $7, and Barista brewed coffee from $4.

Eliza Grace at Yazzbar
Eliza Grace will bring some good tunes with her vocals and piano tonight at Yazzbar from 7pm – 10pm.
Yazzbar is located at 81 Comur St, Yass, and is a food and wine bar with Spanish tapas also served.
They have a variety of different musicians performing every Friday and Saturday night throughout the year, some local, and some from further afield.

Riverbank Park Run
Held every Saturday morning from 8am to 10am at the Riverbank Park in Comur St, Riverbank Park Run is a free, fun, and friendly weekly community event.
Walk, jog, or run the five-kilometre track, or choose to volunteer or spectate, it’s up to you.
The event requires registration prior to attendance, and attendees can also monitor their lap time.
Most of the participants also gather for a coffee afterwards at local Yass café, Trader and Co.

The Big Wheel finish line Shindig
Back on June 27th, Yass woman Samantha – Jane Longmore embarked on a gruelling 441-kilometre journey from Corowa to Yass via Cootamundra, Albury, and lots of other towns in between in a wheelchair.
Her mission, known as The Big Wheel - ‘Push for a Purpose’ was to raise $200,000 and awareness for rural mental health through Rural Aid and Riverina Bluebell.
From 2pm onwards she wants locals to enjoy a laid back, good vibes community shindig to celebrate the end of the journey, and everyone is invited.
There’s expected to be: – Food & drinks (bar included) – Music & good company – A few yarns from the road (no doubt) – Raffles / fundraising ‘bits n bobs,’ and – A finish line moment.
The event will be held at Yass Racecourse on Gums Lane.

AgStock Farmyard Sale, Yass Showground
AgStock is a rural merchandise, livestock marketing, real estate, and steel supplies business located at South Gundagai, but helps local people in surrounding areas such as Yass providing personalised services to their local community.
This weekend, they are trying something different.
The event will run from 9am to 1pm.
Think a farmyard sale with chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys, rabbits, birds, and any other small animals, plus all their gear.
Entries closed on 25th June but contact Sam Hunter via Facebook Messenger if you’ve got something to sell.
