It's a busy weekend across the region, with festivals and other events- too many to cover all at once! It's the Weekend Wire for the Southern Highlands, Tablelands, Wollondilly and Yass for the week ending Friday 20 February.

SOUTHERN HIGHLANDS
FRIDAY FEBRUARY 20
HMCollective presents ‘Australian Prisms’
The Highlands Music Collective is looking forward to presenting their ‘Australian Prisms’ concert this Friday February 20.
Music will be performed from seven Australian composers, one of whom is Southern Highlands and Robertson local, Andrew Ford.
His piece, ‘Cradle Song’, written for violin and piano, will be performed alongside a series of other pieces in a 75-minute concert at the Bowral Memorial Hall.
Local violinist Myee Clohessy, alongside Catherine Barnett on cello, Andrew Rumsey on piano and 2026 Eva Pascoe Award recipient and harpist, Paul Nicolaou will perform Stuart Greenbaum’s ‘9 Candles for Dark Nights’ (for solo harp); Anne Cawrse’s ‘Sanctuary’ (for violin and cello); Paul Nicolaou’s ‘Between Darkness and Light’ (for harp and piano); Nigel Westlake’s ‘Beneath the Midnight Sun’ (for harp and violin); Sally Greenaway’s ‘IMOGEN’ (for cello and piano - premiere); and another piece by Paul Nicolaou, entitled ‘Night Shift’ - premiere) for harp, violin, cello and piano.
The concert will start at 6:30pm in the Bowral Memorial Hall, 24 Bendooley St, Bowral.
Tickets are $140 for a family (two adults, two children), $60 for adults, $55 for concessions, $35 for full time students and $20 for children (under 18).

Mittagong Markets
Held every third Saturday of the month the Mittagong Markets are on in their new location at the Mittagong Senior Citizens and Community Centre from 8am – 2pm.
There’s a great variety of stalls on offer selling unique gifts, local produce as well as food.

Amber Kenny Live on The Deck at Dormie House
Join local musician Amber Kenny on The Deck at Moss Vale’s Dormie House Hotel this Sunday afternoon between 1pm and 4pm.
Entry is free, and you can also enjoy a delicious Sunday roast meal from the hotel’s kitchen.
Live Music sessions will be held on the fourth Sunday of every month, with another local musician, Loki Hines set to perform on March 22 and Ellas Holiday on 26 April and 24 May.

Live Music at the Tahmoor Inn
It’s that time again – every weekend the Tahmoor Inn hosts live music from a variety of local and visiting musicians every Friday and Saturday night.
This week it’s the turn of James Scott (Friday night from 6pm-9pm) and Paul Winn (Saturday night from 8pm – 11pm).

AC/DC Tribute Band,The Oaks Hotel
AC/DC tribute band ‘THUNDERSTRUCK’ will be playing at The Oaks Hotel this Saturday night from 8pm.
They bring the energy, the classic songs and anthems that everybody knows and loves from one of the biggest bands of the late 1970s and early 1980s.
The event is free.

Picton Pride Party
This weekend the town of Picton is celebrating the Mardi Gras and everybody in the LGBTQIA community by hosting a series of shows and free community events at the Wollondilly Performing Arts Centre.
Throughout the day on Sunday, there are a few free community events, which are listed below:
Pride Bracelet & Badge Making; 11am –2 pm for all ages. Drop in and get creative in the foyer;
Wellbeing & Dance Session 11 am – 12 pm; (Free but bookings essential) - All ages and abilities. From inner beauty through to outer groove! Hosted by renowned cabaret performer, Paul Cordiero.
Kiama Illawarra Pride Choir Performance and Group Singalong; 2 pm (again, free but bookings essential). All ages and abilities;
Community Flash Dance Performance; 3:15pm - A joyful, high-energy celebration led by Bonnie Curtis Projects. Registrations to be part of this fun project open soon!; and
Drag Games & Trivia with Miranda Fair; 3:20pm-(free but bookings essential). A cheeky, but oh so FUN way to wrap up the weekend.
Also, tonight and tomorrow night there are three ticketed shows – two cabarets and a drag show (Les Divas –An All Male Revue, Slow Cooked Mutton Cabaret – a late night cabaret experience; and Parlour Noir, with renowned cabaret performer Ben Noir.)

Blue Square Painting Day at Creative Space Goulburn
Hosted by Barbara Nell of Creative Space Goulburn, the Blue Square Painting Day gives local budding artists an opportunity to put their painting into the Blue Square Art Prize, an initiative that was set up by the late Bob Millis of Arthead. The prize also contributes funds toward cancer research.
Cost is $60 with all tuition and materials provided. Canvasses are also supplied.
The event will run from 10am – 4pm at Creative Space Goulburn, Shop 18/210 Auburn St, Goulburn.

Goulburn Tennis Club Centenary FAST4 invitational
Celebrating 100 years of tennis at the Goulburn Tennis Club, the Goulburn Tennis Club Centenary FAST4 Invitational invites all tennis players from around the region to compete in a late afternoon/evening event at the tennis courts on Bishop St.
The event also raises funds for the Goulburn Base Hospital. Gates open from 5pm with four sponsored teams competing under lights. To complement this, there will also be a food truck and drinks and a raffle for all families and spectators.

Ben Lee: On Tour Always, Tallagandra Hill Winery, Gundaroo
World famous Australian musician Ben Lee will be bringing his ‘Ben Lee: On Tour Always’ show to the Tallagandra Hill Winery at Gundaroo tonight from 7pm – 10pm.
He will play songs from his widely successful Awake is the New Sleep 20 Anniversary Tour album, with upwards of 40 tour dates throughout 2026.

Sydney – based artist Mia Lazarus will be hosting pieces from her exhibition ‘Pulses’ at the Tyger Gallery from Saturday 21 February through until Saturday 1 March.
Ms Lazarus will be hosting a meet and greet at the gallery this Saturday from 11am – 2pm, where you can chat about her art and her abstract style.

Yass Railway Museum Artisan Markets
The Yass Railway Museum Artisan Markets are on again for the month of February. Traditionally held on the last Sunday of every month, the markets are popular with both locals and visitors alike, selling everything from local produce and arts and crafts as well as the more ‘artisan’ products.
There’s also extensive food and drink on offer, too, as well as free entry into the Yass Railway Museum.
