A smorgasbord of different events happening across the regions this weekend, with art, food, music, cars and more appealing to anyone and everyone.
SOUTHERN HIGHLANDS
FRIDAY AUGUST 7
Memories and Visions, Bowral Art Gallery
An exhibition featuring the works of Andrew Paviour and Dale Dean starts today at the Bowral Art Gallery on Short St, with the official opening tomorrow (Saturday) at 2pm.
Andrew Paviour and Dale Dean met at art school and have been close friends since that time.
While both have had solo exhibitions, they particularly enjoy showing their work together.
Andrew’s paintings are generally figurative and are inspired by modern life.
” I find the vitality of our contemporary world a rich and varied source of visual ideas and possibilities for my paintings,” he said.
Included in the exhibition are decorative folding screens largely inspired by Andrew’s garden in Bundanoon where he has lived since 2016.
Dale’s works, mostly on linen, are inspired by memories of living on the South Coast, Inner City Sydney and travels in Europe.
“I started embroidering when I was five years old, and watching fabric cut and sewn was part of my everyday life,” Dale said.
“I have had several shows with Andrew, but this is my first using fabric.”
Therefore their works come from their ‘memories and visions’.
Their exhibition will run through until next Tuesday, August 11.
The gallery is open from 10am to 4pm daily.

Harper’s Mansion Open Days
Historic Harpers Mansion at Berrima, owned by the National Trust of Australia, has been in the village since 1834.
Every Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 3pm, they host tours throughout both the homestead and private gardens.
Harper’s Mansion was built in 1834 by local publican James Harper and later owned by the Catholic Church. The house was restored by the National Trust from 1978 and is furnished in colonial style.
Outside, explore two acres of cool-climate gardens that are bursting with perennials and a selection of heritage roses and camellias. A visit wouldn’t be complete without a wander through the extensive hedge maze, planted in 1999 and a constant delight for children.

There will be music for all the family with musical shenanigans exploring all that’s wild, weird and wonderful in the music we love.

Back to Belgenny, Camden
From 11am to 3pm this Saturday at hsitoric Belgenny Farm near Camden, head along to their 'Back to Belgenny' day.
Known as the 'Birthplace of Australian Agriculture', the farm will host a variety of activities including:
- Demonstrations from the 73rd Regiment of the Red Coats;
- Sheep shearing;
- Dog trials;
- Blacksmith demonstrations;
- Wood turners;
- Whip cracking;
- Macarthur cemetery tours;
- Historic tours;
- Damper making;
- CWA scones & Devonshire Teas;
- Food trucks;
- Coffee vans;
- Food and drinks available in the Granary;
- Local artisans and market stalls;
- Petting Zoo;
- Steam and Machinery Displays; and
- Live music.
As part of the original Camden estate granted to John Macarthur in 1805, Belgenny Farm is home to Australia's oldest surviving collection of farm buildings and remains a significant link to our agricultural past.
Funds raised through this event support the conservation and maintenance of this important heritage site, helping to preserve Belgenny Farm's stories, buildings and landscapes for future generations to enjoy.

From 7am to 9:30am at the Walton St Car Park in Picton, the Picton Cars and Coffee event is on again this Sunday.
They meet on the second Sunday of every month and share their enthusiasm for classic cars and more.

There will also be a BBQ hosted by Think of the Five Arrive Alive group.
