Many parts of The Southern Highlands, Wollondilly and the Southern Tablelands were lashed by a major storm front on Friday evening.

From 3 pm until just after 6 pm, torrential rain, lightning and hail lashed the region.

On Sheepwash Road, Bowral and the Illawarra Highway, Moss Vale, chaos ensued as cars sought safe space under trees. Youngsters primed to collect lollies instead collected hail in their lolly buckets.

We have reports of hail breaking windscreens, and extensive flooding in some streets.
