Spring Farm Parkway plans unveiled with no construction funding
Plans for the long-awaited second stage of Spring Farm Parkway have been released for public comment, proposing a direct road connection between Spring Farm, Menangle Park and the Hume Motorway.
Plans for the long-awaited second stage of Spring Farm Parkway have been released for public comment, proposing a direct road connection between Spring Farm, Menangle Park and the Hume Motorway.
The proposed Spring Farm Parkway Stage 2 would deliver a three-kilometre, four-lane road completing the east-west link from Menangle Road and the Hume Motorway through Spring Farm to the Camden Bypass.
The project would finally connect Spring Farm Parkway directly with the suburb it was originally intended to serve.
Stage 1 opened to traffic in August 2024, but without Stage 2, motorists travelling between Spring Farm and the motorway are still forced to use Narellan Road.
The NSW and Federal Governments have committed $15 million towards planning and design of Stage 2.
However, no funding has been announced to actually build the road, and no timeline has been given for construction to begin.
Delivery funding would instead be considered through future Budget processes once planning and design work is completed.
The proposed design and Review of Environmental Factors have now been released for community consultation.
Federal Member for Macarthur Mike Freelander said the project would improve connections for both residents and freight.
“Local residents and freight handlers will be looking forward to the unveiling of this design which sets up the final section of the continuous east-west link from Menangle Road and the Hume Motorway through Spring Farm to the Camden Bypass,” Dr Freelander said.
Transport for NSW will also hold two community information sessions at Spring Farm Shopping Centre, where project staff will be available to answer questions.
The sessions will be held from 11am to 2pm on Wednesday, September 9 and Friday, September 11.
The community can view the proposed design and Review of Environmental Factors and make submissions through the Transport for NSW project page.
