The speed limit on a stretch of Remembrance Drive in Bargo will be reduced to 60km/h next week.

Transport for NSW has advised that the speed limit will be reduced from 80km/h between Tylers Road and 360 metres south of Lupton Road from Tuesday, January 27.

It says the reduced speed limit will help reduce the risk and severity of crashes and will also help create a more comfortable environment for pedestrians and cyclists.

Transport for NSW will be working between January 27 and February 26 to replace the existing speed limit signs and road markings.

The new speed limits will be enforceable from the date that the new signs are installed.

A spokesperson said there would be temporary traffic changes while the work is carried out.

Those changes will include lane closures and a reduced speed limit of 40km/h.

Motorists are asked to keep to the speed limits and follow the direction of traffic controllers and signage.
