Wollondilly residents are being invited to help the Rotary Club of Picton celebrate its 60th anniversary at a special dinner on October 12.
Wollondilly residents are being invited to help the Rotary Club of Picton celebrate its 60th anniversary at a special dinner on October 12.
The dinner is being held at the Picton Bowling Club and tickets are now available online at http://www.Trybooking.com/DNUNN
Those people wanting to attend are advised not to put off purchasing their tickets for too long as bookings will close at 6pm tonight (Tuesday).
Rotarian Geoff Cannon said the birthday dinner would be a “fun, congratulatory night” with speeches and a three-course meal.
He said it would provide an opportunity for people to reflect on what the Rotary Club of Picton has achieved over the past 60 years and to discuss its plans for the future.
Guests on the night will include Wollondilly mayor Matt Gould and representatives of the local business community.
Mr Cannon said there was a strong desire within the club to “do more”.
He said it was only a small club but numbers were growing with six new members joining within the last 12 months alone.
Mr Cannon said the October 12 dinner might provide other people with the incentive they need to become Rotarians as well.
He said the club was always looking for new projects that make life better for people in the Picton area and an expanded membership base would help make that possible.
“We’re looking forward to the future,” Mr Cannon told The Southern Wire.
The dinner is not just for current Rotarians but also for past members, families of past members, old friends of the club, volunteers, community members – and anyone else who has shared part of the club’s journey over the past 60 years.
“We only get one chance to celebrate 60 years and it would mean a great deal to have the people of our community there celebrating alongside us,” the club said in a recent statement.
Tickets for the dinner are $55 per person with the evening’s celebrations scheduled to get underway at 6pm. · For more information about the Rotary Club of Picton visit www.pictonrotary.com.au
