Road closures on Douglas Park Drive
Wollondilly Shire Council has advised of road closures on Douglas Park Drive next week for road maintenance work.

Wollondilly Shire Council has advised of road closures on Douglas Park Drive next week for road maintenance work.
The closures will occur between Moreton Park Road and the Hume Highway overpass between 9am and 4pm on Tuesday, January 27, Wednesday, January 28 and Thursday, January 29.
The road will be open before 9am and after 4pm on each of those days and residents are advised that Douglas Park businesses will remain open despite the road closures.
Council says the closures are needed for “on-going slope management for the maintenance of vegetation”.
“Trees and vegetation growing out of the rock pose a risk to motorists by loosening up the sandstone and holding water,” council says.
“They can also contribute to mobilising rockfalls.”
Douglas Park Drive was closed to traffic earlier this week due to flooding on the causeway following heavy rain.
The causeway was inspected and cleaned and re-opened to traffic on January 20.
As previously reported by The Southern Wire, there have been ongoing issues with the condition of Douglas Park Drive but council has assured local residents that it has no plans to permanently close the road.
It will continue to seek grant funding to undertake major repairs.
Council’s preferred option is for a single lane of traffic through the Gorge with permanent traffic lights.
The road will need to be closed for the works to be undertaken but council says the closure will be temporary and that any talk of a permanent closure is unfounded.
