Member for Wollondilly Judy Hannan has this morning received the following response from ARTC regarding future plans for the former heritage-listed railway cottage site at Bargo.

ARTC has advised that:

  • Temporary fencing installation: Street-facing fencing will be installed on Thursday 11 September to restrict public access and improve site safety.

  • Remediation planning: ARTC is advancing make-safe works, including asbestos testing. They are engaging one of their approved contractors who is available to undertake these works at short notice.

  • Future site options: Once ARTC receive the contractor’s report on current site conditions, they will consider longer-term options for the site and will engage with local key stakeholders on potential alternate uses. Our focus is to make the site safe following the fire and to ensure no risk to the community or others.

Ms Hannan will keep the community updated on the situation in the coming days / weeks.

Do you have any photos and stories of the former cottage in its glory days and its lovely gardens?
