Transport for NSW has advised that there will be changed traffic conditions from next week on the Hume Highway at Marulan for road repair work.

The advice comes more than a month after The Southern Wire reported that motorists should brace for another round of delays.

The next round of slab replacement works will commence on Monday (February 16) and will continue through until Thursday, March 5, weather permitting.

Work will be carried out 24 hours a day (from Marulan South Road for 450 metres north) but will stop between 7pm Saturdays and 7pm Sundays.

Northbound traffic will be diverted onto southbound lanes under contraflow until work is complete.

A reduced speed limit of 80 km/h will be in place and road users are being advised to allow up to 20 minutes’ additional travel time.

Friday afternoons and weekend travel times may vary, but delays of up to 30 minutes may be experienced.

Access into Marulan town centre will remain open.

Transport for NSW came under heavy fire last year after closing the southbound exit to Marulan for slab replacement works in the lead up to Christmas and for seriously underestimating the length of delays for motorists travelling on the Hume Highway.

Motorists took to social media in their hundreds – with some of them saying they had been stuck in traffic for hours.

More recently Transport for NSW seriously underestimated the length of delays when it advised motorists to allow an extra five minutes for roadworks on the Hume Highway north of Mittagong.

For the next round of works at Marulan, motorists travelling northbound to access Jerrara Road and Marulan South Road from the Hume Highway will be detoured via Brayton Road.

Motorists travelling northbound to the Hume Highway from Jerrara Road and Marulan South Road will be detoured via Munro Road.

Southbound access to and from Jerrara Road and Marulan South Road will not be affected.

Over Size Over Mass vehicles (OSOM) wider than 4.5 metres will need to use the designated pullover areas to arrange access through the work area.

Access to and from the quarries will be maintained in both directions at all times under the direction of traffic control.

Access to service stations in both directions at Marulan will be unaffected.
