Transport for NSW (TfNSW) has advised that on-going works will recommence on Monday, October 19 and will continue through until Monday, November 23.
Work will be carried out 24 hours a day, seven days a week, weather permitting.
A spokesperson for TfNS said it would be replacing further sections of the concrete road surface with asphalt on the highway’s northbound lanes.
This will include a 500-metre section of the highway just south of the BP entry ramp at George Street and a 400 metre-section just north of Medway Road.
Each section is expected to take approximately two weeks to complete.
Motorists have experienced frustration over highway delays with previous works and have accused TfNSW of seriously underestimating the length of delays.
For the next stage of works motorists are being advised to expect 20-minute delays during the week and delays of up to 30 minutes on Friday afternoons and weekends.
TfNSW will be diverting northbound traffic onto the southbound carriageway from October 19 under a contraflow arrangement.
The contraflow arrangements will remain in place 24 hours a day, seven days a week for the duration of the project – although they will be temporarily removed for up to one week while work relocates from one section of the highway to the other.
The speed limit will be reduced to 80km/h.
Access to the Hume Highway from Medway Road will be closed at the roundabout from Monday, November 9 to Monday, November 23 with detours in place via George Street.
The spokesperson said additional traffic control measures would be in place on George Street and around school zones to minimise disruption and maintain the safety of students, families and road users.
Additional VMS signage will inform road users that the Marulan township will still be open and accessible.
As reported by The Southern Wire, local businesses have criticised previous sections of work – including the closure of the southbound access to Marulan late last year which they said severely impacted their Christmas trade.
TfNSW has also been accused by Member for Goulburn Wendy Tuckerman of poor communication and engagement.
