Information from the State Emergency Service (SES) indicates that severe weather was predicted to affect parts of the Southern Tablelands, Highlands and surrounding areas throughout this afternoon and evening.

The SES is advising people to monitor conditions and stay indoors, with forecast heavy rainfall, damaging winds and large hailstones in Goulburn and Bowral.

Heavy rainfall was detected near Bundanoon and Yerranderie, and was heading in a northeasterly direction. They are also currently affecting the Lake Burragorang area, Robertson and northwest parts of the Wollondilly Shire.

In fact the app ‘Hazards Near Me’ and Bureau of Meteorology recorded 30mm at Big Hill (north east of Goulburn near Marulan) in the one hour to 3:41pm.

The SES advises that what you need to do is:

  • Avoid unneccessary travel, move indoors, bring children and pets with you;

  • Park your car under secure cover and away from trees, powerlines, and drains;

  • If safe to do so, secure or put away items such as outdoor furniture, trampolines, and roofing iron that could blow around in strong winds; and

  • Grab your emergency kit in case you lose power or need to leave your home.

For more information keep a listening ear to your local ABC radio station, download the Hazards near Me app, follow the NSW SES on social media or visit their website at www.ses.nsw.gov.au, and check the latest weather warnings on the Bureau of Meteorology website at www.bom.gov.au/nsw.
