He travels to shopping centres and malls all around Australia and can also visit people’s homes if they cannot make it to their local shopping centre.
Mr. MacDonald will be located at his ‘mobile store’ in Highlands Marketplace in Mittagong next week from Australia Day (Monday January 26) through until Saturday January 31.
Mr. MacDonald founded the business, Best Price Gold Buyers, in 1998 with a passion for preserving and recycling valuables.
His core business is the buying of stock, especially gold and silver coins including sovereigns, florins, shillings and many more.
He also offers free appraisals for a range of items including not only jewellery, but also watches, pre-decimal coins and banknotes, stamps, medals and military items, antiques and fine china.
Broken items are also accepted.
He then takes them away, cleans them up, repairs them, represents them, values them and sells them on his website.
“After 28 years, I still love doing what I do,” Mr. MacDonald told The Southern Wire.
“You never know what you’re going to come across – every day is different. For example, one day I had a guy come in with some extremely rare photos that his father took of Australian army ships that were sunk in Darwin Harbour by the Japanese – they could be worth a lot of money to a collector.”
Members of the community can take their items, along with a form of identification, down to Highlands Marketplace every day next week between 8am and 4:30pm.
