Death warning as popular fridges recalled
Owners of some of Australia's most popular camping fridges are being urged to stop using them immediately after a national product recall over a serious fire risk.
Owners of some of Australia's most popular camping fridges are being urged to stop using them immediately after a national product recall over a serious fire risk.
The XTM portable fridge freezers have become a familiar sight at local sports grounds and campgrounds, where they're used to keep food and drinks cold during the warmer months.
The recall affects four models of XTM 12/24V portable camping fridge freezers sold through BCF and Supercheap Auto between 5 September 2025 and 15 July 2026.
The affected models range in size from 20 litres through to 75 litres.
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) have advised that the products do not comply with mandatory Australian flammability requirements.
According to the ACCC, the products pose a risk of serious injury, death or property damage if one of the fridge freezers catches fire.
Owners should stop using the product immediately and return it to their nearest BCF or Supercheap Auto store for a full refund.
The recalled fridges were sold nationally, including online, and were manufactured in China.
