Council triumphant after winning prestigious awards
Wollondilly Shire Council came home triumphant from the recent 2026 Local Government Professionals Excellence Awards.

Wollondilly Shire Council came home triumphant from the recent 2026 Local Government Professionals Excellence Awards; winning the prestigious Professional Learning, Advancement and Collaboration Experience (PLACE) Award, receiving Highly Commended for their Customer Experience and Enhancement Program and Wollondilly School Holiday Partnership Program, and being named a finalist for six other projects.
In a Mayoral Minute at Tuesday’s meeting, Mayor Matt Gould highlighted the positive achievements and said he couldn’t be prouder of the results for Council.
“We went in as a nominated finalist for nine separate projects,” he said.
“This in itself was an impressive achievement and a great reflection of the range of work happening across Council right now.
“The projects covered everything from community spaces and major events to customer experience, innovation, advocacy and leadership, and shows that we are delivering transformative outcomes like never before.”
“The Wollondilly School Holiday Partnership Program involved working with local sporting, arts and community groups to create a hugely popular school holiday program for our kids and families, which is a great example of how Council is working in collaboration with others to make life better for residents.”
“The award for our Customer Experience and Enhancement Program recognises the steady, consistent work happening to make it easier for our customers to deal with us.”
Now moving into its third year, the CEEP program focuses on clearer communication, simpler processes, better follow-up and lifting service standards right across the organisation.
“Winning the PLACE award was an impressive achievement for our Council,” Mayor Gould added.
“Standing for Professional Learning, Advancement and Collaboration Experience, PLACE is a competitive program run by Local Government Professionals where a team of senior managers come up with solutions to real-world challenges.
“Winning this award says a lot about the quality and capabilities of our leadership staff and their capacity to innovate and collaborate in order to come up with solutions that strengthen communities and set us up for the future.”
“It is fantastic to be recognised for projects that are making a real difference to how our community lives, connects and engages with us, and to celebrate the way we are delivering transformative outcomes like never before.”
