Community of Western Sydney invited to check out new airport runway
People in the surrounding suburbs and wider region of Western Sydney are taking part in a ‘Runway Run’ at the new Western Sydney International (Nancy Bird Walton) Airport this Sunday to raise funds for the Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation (SCHF).

People in the surrounding suburbs and wider region of Western Sydney are taking part in a ‘Runway Run’ at the new Western Sydney International (Nancy Bird Walton) Airport this Sunday in support of the Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation (SCHF).
They will have the opportunity to participate in any of the below events:
- A community runway walk;
- Half Marathon (3 laps);
- 14km (2 laps);
- ️7km (1 lap) or
- 4km (one run down the runway)
The event has proved so popular in fact that it is already sold out, with 20,000 entrants participating!
Entrants who participate in the event will receive a ‘finisher medal’, plus access to aid stations/ refill water points located around the course; professional medical support on course; an event photographer along the course to capture your finest moments; valuable draw prizes; an active lifestyle expo; sponsors products; a safe and professionally managed event; support from local sport and charity groups – who receive a portion of proceeds from the event; post-event snacks, recovery & nutrition; and even bragging rights and stories to tell that they were the first people to see the newest airport runway in Australia before flights are due to take off in October this year.
Events start from 6am, with registration and media setting up before the 4km race commences at 7am.
The half marathon will then take place from 8am, the 14km race at 9:30am, the 7km race from 11am, and the community walk (there will be four rounds of one per hour) from 1pm – 4pm.
