Cancer and infusion centre petition heads to Parliament in August
The push for a cancer and infusion centre at Bowral Hospital has continued to gather momentum, with campaigners delivering a paper petition to Wollondilly MP Judy Hannan.

The push for a cancer and infusion centre at Bowral Hospital has continued to gather momentum, with campaigners delivering a paper petition to Wollondilly MP Judy Hannan.
The petition, organised by Public Health First, was presented to Mrs Hannan on 2 July ahead of its formal submission to the Clerk of the NSW Parliament on 4 August.
It follows the group's online petition, which closed on 16 May after attracting 4,242 signatures.
Public Health First said its paper petition, which has been running since 25 March, has averaged more than 80 signatures a day.
The NSW Parliament's Procedures Committee oversees the approval of all petitions. While electronic petitions require people to sign using a QR code or email address, paper petitions are verified using a person's signature and street address.
Public Health First's Edna Carmichael said the paper process gave added confidence in the support shown by the community.
"Signing in person overcomes this problem and makes it a very personal decision," she said.
"This large number of signatures each day is a very clear message to the Government and, in particular, the Minister for Health, Ryan Park."
Meggan Harrison, who tirelessly collected signatures at markets and local shows, said many residents had shared personal experiences while signing the petition.
"So many people in our community have had cancer and needed to travel for treatment. Some of the stories we heard were heart-wrenching," she said.
Mrs Hannan praised the campaign and those who had supported it.
"It makes me proud to be the local member for this community. I am committed to this campaign and to seeing more cancer care available to residents closer to home," she said.
Public Health First said signatures will continue to be collected throughout July before the petition is presented to the Clerk of the NSW Parliament on 4 August.
