Rail passengers are facing major disruptions across the Southern Highlands line tonight following an incident involving a freight train and a pedestrian at Bowral.
Rail passengers are facing major disruptions across the Southern Highlands line tonight following an incident involving a freight train and a pedestrian at Bowral.
Emergency services and Crime Scene Investigators remain at the scene, with rail services currently suspended between Picton and Moss Vale.
Commuters should prepare for significant delays while investigations continue.
Member for Goulburn Wendy Tuckerman has sent her best wishes, “Our thoughts are with all those involved,” Ms Tuckerman said.
Member for Wollondilly Judy Hannan has commented on the "sad and terrible news" and says "everyone should wrap their arms around family and friends".
At this stage:
no trains are operating between Picton and Moss Vale,
one passenger train remains stopped at Mittagong Station,
and shuttle train services are operating between Campbelltown and Picton.
Emergency replacement buses have been deployed, including services to Picton and Mittagong, while additional buses are being sourced.
Passengers are being urged to check transport updates before travelling.
