ANZAC Day service list for the regions

Our most sacred day of remembrance for our fallen soldiers will see towns all across Australia host dawn services and day services and marches held.

Our most sacred day of remembrance for our fallen soldiers will see towns all across Australia host dawn services and day services and marches held.

Hundreds of thousands of men in these towns conscripted to fight for ‘king and country’ and confront the enemy, and they sacrificed their lives to keep Australia the safe and prosperous country it is today.

The Southern Wire journalist Antony Dubber has put together a list of ANZAC Day services across the regions for ANZAC Day, which this year falls on Saturday, 25 April.

CAMDEN

Camden RSL Sub-Branch will hold Commemoration Services and an ANZAC March to commemorate the Anniversary of the landing at Gallipoli.

5am - ANZAC Day Dawn Service

10.30am - ANZAC Day March down Argyle St

11.15am - ANZAC Day Commemoration Service at Camden Bicentennial Equestrian Park.

CAMPBELLTOWN

5:30am - Dawn Service, Mawson Park, Campbelltown

8:30am - March up Queen Street from Campbelltown Mall to Mawson Park

9:00am - Main Service at Mawson Park.

SOUTHERN HIGHLANDS

BERRIMA

5:30 am - Dawn Service

10:00 am - Service, (both at Berrima War Memorial Garden)

BOWRAL

Friday 24th April: 8:30 am to 12:30 pm - Sub Branch Members on Bong Bong St selling Anzac badges and tokens; (in the afternoon 24th Sub Branch members will visit Bowral House and the Anthem nursing homes where they will provide the residents with an Anzac Memorial service)

Saturday 25th April: Dawn Service Parade and Memorial service - 5. 30am: (march off under the command of Sapper Hamish Burchell and to the sounds of Oscar Arnold on a Bag Pipe and drummers from Chevalier College at 5:40am to the Memorial Park)

6:00 am - Dawn Service begins at War Memorial

10am - Those involved in the main parade gather in Coles car park;

10.35 am – Parade moves down Boolwey St and turns right into Bong Bong Street from traffic lights and down to War Memorial.

11am – Service commences at War Memorial

12pm – 1pm – Ex-servicemen and families join each other for lunch and barefoot bowls at Bowral Bowling Club

12pm – 5pm – Two-up also played throughout afternoon.

BURRAWANG

9:00 am - Wreath laying only (no service) - Burrawang School of Arts

BUNDANOON

6:00am – Dawn Service and the laying of wreaths at memorial on Church St. Breakfast afterwards served by the Lions Club at the Soldiers Memorial Hall.

10:30am – Marshalling for march up Railway Avenue.

Approx. 11:00am – Memorial service at War Memorial, Church St.

12 noon onwards – Two – up at the Bundanoon Hotel.

COLO VALE

8:00 am at the Colo Vale Community Hall, Colo Vale

EXETER

10.30am - Exeter ANZAC Day Service commences (held at the Memorial in Exeter Park in Exeter Village Hall complex).

Join veterans and their families, children from Exeter Public School and the OZY Youth Choir Honouring Defence Service for a heartfelt ANZAC Day service of song, story and reflection. Service will be followed by morning tea on the hall verandah.

HILL TOP

6:00 am at the Hill Top War Memorial Hall, Hill Top.

MITTAGONG

5:15am – Form up for march on Church Lane to War Memorial and Clock on corner of Bowral Rd and Main St.

5:30 am: Dawn Service at memorial.

After service a gunfire breakfast will be served at the Mittagong RSL Club.

9:45am – Form up for march on Albion St ready to step off at 10:30am.

10:30 am: Fly over by two aircraft; one helicopter and one aircraft to pass over during service – will do ‘Missing Man’ formation. Service at the War Memorial at cnr. Old Hume Highway and Bowral Road. Over 300 students from Frensham school expected to attend as well as Army Cadets, the SES, Scouts, Mittagong football juniors, St Michael’s school, etc.

11:30am onwards – Official lunch served at Mittagong RSL Club with chance to settle in and watch rugby league and play two-up.

MOSS VALE

Timetable as follows:

10:30am – Marching groups assemble

10:35am – Groups fall in order for march

10:40am – March starts from Queen St footpath to Argyle St, then heads south to the Moss Vale Services Club Memorial Lawn.

11:00am – ANZAC Day Commemoration Service and fly over by local aero club ‘The Roolettes’ (on Moss Vale Services Club Memorial Lawn)

(Note: If there is forecast inclement weather on the day, the march itself may be called off and the service will still be held in the Moss Vale Services Club auditorium. Members of the public are invited.)

12 noon - Gossip, memories and recollections (in Moss Vale Services Club lounge)

12:30pm - Music by ‘Backlash (MVSC lounge)

4pm - ANZAC Day Rugby league match on TV (St George Illawarra vs. Sydney Roosters – MVSC Lounge)

PENROSE

5:30am - Penrose Village Green (opposite the Penrose Post Cafe)

ROBERTSON

All events hosted by Diggers Military Memorial Motorcycle Club – Los Robos Chapter.

5:00am – Gunfire breakfast

6:00am – Dawn Service commences

6:00am – 10:00am – Bar open at The Robertson Public House & Kitchen

12 noon – Two – up (also at The Robertson Public House & Kitchen)

SUTTON FOREST

8:00 am - All Saints Church Hall, Sutton Forest

BUNGONIA

10am - Official Service at the Bungonia War Memorial. Morning Tea in the Bungonia Village Hall afterwards.

GOULBURN

• Dawn Service – 5.30am Belmore Park Honour Roll

• Memorial Service – Approx. 6:15am War Graves, Goulburn General Cemetery, Gorman Road, Goulburn

• Gunfire Breakfast – Goulburn Soldiers Club, for all Dawn Service and war grave attendees

• ANZAC Day March: 11.00am Auburn Street (10.30am assembly at corner of Glebe Avenue & Clinton Street in front of Ian’s Auto & Drill Hall);

• Official ANZAC Day Service – 11.45am at Belmore Park Honour Roll

The Rocky Hill War Memorial Tower will also open from 5am to mark the dawn of ANZAC Day and will remain open until 4pm. The Rocky Hill War Memorial Museums will also be open from 10am to 4pm.

The Mulwaree High School Remembrance Museum will also be open on Saturday 25th April from 12pm to 4pm for ANZAC Day, and then again every Sunday from 2pm to 4pm.

MARULAN

6am - Dawn Service at the Marulan War Memorial. Then gunfire breakfast at the Terminus Hotel.

11am - Official Service at the Marulan War Memorial.

TALLONG

10am - Official Service at the Tallong War Memorial.

TARAGO

6am - Dawn Service at the Tarago War Memorial. Gunfire Breakfast afterwards in the Tarago Town Hall.

YASS VALLEY

BINALONG

10am - March from Fitzroy St, followed by the Service at 10.15am at the Binalong Memorial Garden.

BOWNING

5.45am - Dawn Service at the Bowning Hall, Short St, followed by BBQ breakfast.

GUNDAROO

5.25am - Dawn Service at the War Memorial, corner Cork & Harp St, followed by breakfast at the Gundaroo Soldiers Memorial Hall.

MURRUMBATEMAN

9.30am - Service at the Anzac Memorial, Jones Park, immediately followed by morning tea at the Murrumbateman Country Inn, and Two Up at 12.30pm.

SUTTON

5.45am - Dawn Service at the Sutton Memorial Gates, Victoria St, followed by community BBQ.

YASS

6:00am - Dawn Service at the Soldier’s Memorial Hall, Comur St, followed by Gunfire Breakfast;

10:45am - March (meet 10.30am at Crago St), followed by the Main Service at the Hall at 11am and then lunch.

WEE JASPER

7.45am - Meet at 8.00am for march across the bridge to the Service at the Wee Jasper Community Hall.

9am - The ANZAC inspired Wee Jasper Heritage Fair then starts.

UPPER LACHLAN

BIGGA

5:45am – Assemble for Dawn Service at Bigga Recreation Ground, Mulgowrie St.

6:00am – Service at Recreation Ground

BREADALBANE

8:00am – service with light breakfast served at the conclusion of the service at the hall.

CROOKWELL

5:45am - Dawn Service; Gather at Crookwell Services Club, then march to Memorial Park, Goulburn St.

6:00am – Service. Breakfast afterwards at 7am at the Criterion Hotel and also catered breakfast at Crookwell Services Club.

10:30am - Assemble for march (again at Crookwell Services Club), then march to Memorial Park.

11:00am – Service at Memorial Park. CWA will have tea and coffee available after service in their rooms.

12:40pm - Be seated for lunch to be served afterwards at 1:00pm at Crookwell Services Club (again fully catered- for bookings contact Fiona Magnussen on 0427 596 554).

4:00pm – Two – up at Crookwell Services Club.

COLLECTOR

6:00am – Dawn Service at War Memorial on Church St. Coffee available at the Some Café after the service.

GRABBEN GULLEN

9:00am – Service at the Grabben Gullen War Memorial followed by morning tea afterwards.

GUNNING

5:45am – Dawn Service at Memorial Garden, followed by breakfast at the Showgrounds Hall.

10:40am – Assemble for march

11:00am – Commemoration service to be held at Cenotaph preceded by a veteran’s march along Yass St, starting from Pye Cottage.

This year’s service will again include a ‘Step Up’ segment in the commemoration service. ‘Step Up’ is an opportunity for residents of the Gunning district to give a short account of a family member’s service in any conflict involving Australia. TARALGA

5:30am – Dawn Service; assemble at the cenotaph opposite the Taralga Hotel. Breakfast afterwards at Taralga Memorial Hall provided by the Taralga Rugby Club.

12:30pm – Luncheon at Taralga Sports Club. Contact the RSL on 0408 223 174.

2:45pm – March; assemble at the northern end of Orchard St near the Taralga Public School. March will proceed along Orchard St to the World War One Memorial opposite the Taralga Hotel. A wreath laying ceremony will be conducted and the march will then proceed to the Taralga War Memorial Hall. Following the march, a commemoration service will be held at the Taralga War Memorial.

WOLLONDILLY

BARGO

10am – ANZAC Day service at the Bargo Sports Club, 3580 Remembrance Driveway, Bargo. Doors open from 9am.

12pm – 5pm – Two-up and face painting for the kids from 12pm to 3pm.

PICTON

6:30am - March up Argyle St with assembly point on Menangle St West, behind Picton Hotel.

7:00am - Service at Memorial Park, Argyle St.

11:00am - Morning Service in Memorial Park, Argyle St.

TAHMOOR/THIRLMERE

5:00am - Dawn Service, Thirlmere Memorial Park, cnr. Barbour Rd and Oaks St.

THE OAKS

12 noon - Two – up at The Oaks Hotel with live music and pop – up bar. Special ANZAC Day menu also available.

WARRAGAMBA

10:30am – Meet at the Warragamba-Silverdale Neighbourhood Centre (WSNC) for march

11:00am – Service at Warragamba Memorial Park. Dam Riders putting on sausage sizzle and club bistro will be open at Warragamba Workers Club after service. Rose Carleo Band will also be performing on stage at the club.
