Yass maternity hub underway as construction ramps up
Construction is underway on a new maternity hub at Yass Hospital, with works progressing on a dedicated space for pregnancy and postnatal services.

Construction is underway on a new maternity hub at Yass Hospital, with works progressing on a dedicated space for pregnancy and postnatal services.
The project, centred around the Eric Bell Centre, has seen roof restoration begin as part of plans to transform the facility into a locally based, midwife-led support hub.
Mayor Jasmin Jones said the project was a “hard-fought win” for the region, aimed at improving services for local mothers.

Mayor Jones said the hub would support pre- and post-natal care, childbirth education and provide stronger links to birthing hospitals in Goulburn and Queanbeyan.
A project tender is expected to be awarded imminently, with construction on track for completion by the end of September.
Recruitment is also underway, with midwives already secured to support services including antenatal and postnatal care, culturally safe midwifery and birth trauma counselling. The recruitment of a lactation consultant is also underway.
The project is backed by a $4.7 million federal funding commitment, with works being delivered in partnership with the Southern NSW Local Health District.
The facility, currently referred to as the “Bub Hub”, will undergo further community consultation before a final name is decided.
