Woman rescued after cliff fall at Macquarie Pass
A woman in her 30s has escaped serious injury after falling several metres from a cliff ledge at Mount Murray, near the top of Macquarie Pass.
A woman in her 30s has escaped serious injury after falling several metres from a cliff ledge at Mount Murray, near the top of Macquarie Pass.
Volunteers from the NSW SES Wingecarribee and Moss Vale units were called to the vertical rescue about 10.30pm on Saturday.
The woman had become trapped in a narrow gap within the steep escarpment after falling from the ledge.
NSW Ambulance Special Operations paramedics abseiled down to reach the woman and assess her injuries.
SES rescue operators and paramedics then established technical rope systems to haul her from the escarpment.
The operation continued late into the night before the woman was brought to safety and treated by waiting paramedics.
She avoided serious injury and was able to return home.
