The Southern Wire has spoken with Boral, who are 'committed to working closely with authorities' after a train failed to negotiate the tracks at New Berrima today.

Boral are the operator of the cement works in New Berrima, where the train was attempting to reach. The cement works produce 60% of cement used in NSW, having commenced operations in 1929.

A spokesperson for Boral has told The Southern Wire the train was operated by "our rail services partner with their equipment". That partner is Southern Shorthaul Railroad (SSR).

The spokesperson confirmed the train was carrying "Boral cement".

The site of the derailment is currently under the direction of NSW Police and rail regulators.

Importantly, the Boral spokesperson confirmed, "there were no injuries."

Boral have reached out to the community to "sympathise" with the "inconvenience caused to the travelling public".
