Unlicensed driver arrested driving at 218km/h at Yass whilst over the drug and alcohol limit.
At 12.27am on Sunday 22nd February 2026, police attached to Yass HWP detected a silver Lexus travelling south on the Hume Highway, Manton (near Yass) at 218km/h in the sign posted 110km/h zone.

At 12.27am on Sunday 22nd February 2026, police attached to Yass HWP detected a silver Lexus travelling south on the Hume Highway, Manton (near Yass) at 218km/h in the sign posted 110km/h zone.
The vehicle was stopped without incident where the 47 year old male driver indicated that he didn't have a Drivers Licence with enquiries revealing it had expired in 2009.
The driver was subject to a roadside breath test which returned a positive result and he was placed under arrest and conveyed to Yass Police Station where he underwent a breath analysis returning a reading of 0.088 grams of alcohol in 210 litres of breath. A subsequent drug test also returned a positive indication for both cannabis and methamphetamine.
The driver was charged with Drive speed dangerous, Never licensed person drive vehicle on road and Drive with mid range PCA and illicit drug and was given conditional bail to appear at Yass Local Court on 26th March 2026.
