Rugby clubs, associations and councils across New South Wales are being invited to apply for a share of $2.15 million through the second round of the NSW Rugby World Cup Legacy Program.

The funding forms part of a $10 million investment in rugby linked to NSW hosting matches during the 2027 Men's Rugby World Cup.

Grants ranging from $5,000 to $150,000 are available for projects that upgrade rugby facilities and infrastructure, strengthen player pathways from grassroots through to elite levels and increase participation, particularly among women and girls, First Nations communities, multicultural communities and people with disabilities.

The program aims to ensure the benefits of hosting the international tournament extend beyond the event itself by supporting local clubs, councils and communities.

Round one saw 38 clubs, associations and councils share in $2.15 million for projects including facility upgrades and participation initiatives. Goulburn Rugby successfully received approximately $50,000.

Minister for Sport Steve Kamper said the funding would ensure communities across the state benefited from hosting Rugby World Cup matches.

"NSW is the nation's major sporting event capital, and we're making sure events like the Men's Rugby World Cup 2027 leave a lasting legacy at every level of the game," he said.

"This funding means rugby clubs and communities right across the state get a direct benefit from NSW hosting World Cup games."

Applications close on Friday, 14 August. Eligible organisations can apply through the NSW Government grants website.
