The Southern Highlands village of Robertson is gearing up for one of its biggest annual events; the 147th Robertson Show this Friday and Saturday.

First starting in 1879, the show has brought thousands of people to the village over the years to celebrate everything ‘Robbo’ - from its potatoes to its cattle, its creative people and much more.

“We have two huge days of country fun, family entertainment and agricultural excellence,” Show President Leanne Cleary told The Southern Wire.

“Our pavilion entries are open, and have you thought about entering some home grown produce, a giant pumpkin, homemade craft, cooking, photography or even bread, cheese, home brew or wine?

“Get the kids busy and enter their Lego creations, flower arrangements or it’s also a great way to teach them to bake something and enter their handiwork.

“We have a ‘Best Pig in Show’ class in honour of ‘Babe’ which is open to both adults and kids.”

Tomorrow (Friday 6 March) there will be free entry until 3:30pm, with impressive dairy cattle, horse events and poultry exhibits.

The Kids Zone will also be buzzing, with:

• Working kelpies;

• Sheep Shearing Demonstrations;

• A reptile display;

• Heavy horses;

• Horse shoeing demonstrations; and

• An old machinery display.

From 4:30pm, the showground will come alive with ‘Muster in the Mist’ — a night of country music, line dancing and loads of fun competitions.

Have a go at:

The Mechanical bull competition;

The Australia-wide famous Mullet competition (originating in the Hunter Valley town of Kurri Kurri) – see who has grown the best mullet with a whole host of other ‘mullet’ categories;

Whistling & Cooee competitions; and a

Whip cracking display and competition.

Entertainment for the evening includes the Robertson Primary School Ukulele Group, the local men’s singing group “The Sea Shanties”, local favourites Steve Cheers and Loki Hines, plus Dee’s Line Dancing.

From 8pm, headline act Liam Maihi, former contestant on ‘The Voice Australia’, will perform the very best of country music.

Saturday will incorporate a full show day of action, including Beef cattle judging, horse events, Poultry displays including chook washing demonstrations, and more Pavilion displays (don’t forget to vote for Best Pig in Show!).

The Kids Zone again returns bigger than ever, packed with hands-on agricultural learning and entertainment including:

• A pet show;

• Gig racing;

• Shoe toss;

• Reptile display;

• Working kelpies;

• Farmyard nursery;

• More whip cracking demonstrations; and again,

• Heavy horses with wagon rides.

Special features for 2026 include:

• The Light Horse Brigade display;

• Bullock display;

• Charlie the ridden steer (celebrating his 21st birthday!);

• The Robertson famous Championship Potato Races at 3pm; and

• ‘Helicopter Lotto’ — buy a golf ball for your chance to win when they are dropped from a helicopter.

Also new for 2026 is the ‘Local Celebrity Amazing Race’ at 4:30pm — come and support your local sporting clubs as they compete for $1,000.

Crowd favourites will also return including Farmer Dave’s K9 Superwall dog jumping competition, the always-thrilling Demo Derby from 6pm, the Hay Stacking Competition, Tug-O-War, Young Farmers Challenge and even a spectacular fireworks finale.

Tickets are only $20 for Adults; $5 for kids ages 10–16, and Under 10s free.
