Top talent on show as the Plan B Regional Bash comes to Goulburn
Some of country NSW’s most talented female cricketers will take centre stage this weekend as the Country Plan B Female Regional Bash heads to Goulburn and the Central Coast on Friday 14 and Saturday 15 November.
Some of country NSW’s most talented female cricketers will take centre stage this weekend as the Country Plan B Female Regional Bash heads to Goulburn and the Central Coast on Friday 14 and Saturday 15 November.
The competition will see two pools of regional representative sides play a total of six T20 matches across the two venues, showcasing the growing depth of women’s cricket in country NSW and the strong pathways developing future stars of the game.
Country Cricket Chair Paul Majoribanks said the event highlights both the strength and spirit of women’s cricket in country areas.
“The Country Plan B Regional Bash (Female) is a fantastic showcase of the depth of talent across our regional communities,” Mr Majoribanks said.
“These players embody the passion, teamwork and resilience that make country cricket so special. We’re proud to provide a platform that celebrates their achievements and inspires the next generation of female cricketers.”
Goulburn Mulwaree Council Mayor Nina Dillon said she was delighted to welcome the event to the city.
“On behalf of Goulburn Mulwaree Council, I’m thrilled to welcome the players, officials and supporters of the Women’s Plan B Regional Bash to Goulburn,” Cr Dillon said.
“It’s fantastic to see elite women’s cricket showcased in our city. I wish all teams the very best and encourage everyone visiting to explore and enjoy everything our region has to offer.”
Southern Districts Zone Chair Paddy Moylan added "Our Zone team is The Southern Spirit, we have a squad who are keen to learn and develop. I am so excited to watch them play a positive brand of cricket".
The Southern Spirit comprises players from Yass, the Highlands, the Tablelands, the Monaro, the Far South Coast and the Shoalhaven.
Strong performances in the regional bash may lead to selection in the NSW Country team.
