Teen accused of hitting officer and leading police on two pursuits
A teenage boy has been refused bail after allegedly hitting a police officer with a car, striking a police vehicle and leading officers on two pursuits through Goulburn.
A teenage boy has been refused bail after allegedly hitting a police officer with a car, striking a police vehicle and leading officers on two pursuits through Goulburn.
Police said officers from The Hume Police District first attempted to stop a Holden sedan about 8.30pm on Saturday after allegedly detecting an obscured number plate on Sloane Street.
The vehicle allegedly failed to stop on Park Road at Eastgrove, prompting a pursuit. The pursuit continued onto Sloane Street before it was terminated due to safety concerns.
About three hours later, at approximately 11.30pm, police located a white Holden sedan parked in a carpark near the intersection of Sydney Road and Common Street.
Police will allege the vehicle was involved in the earlier pursuit.
As officers approached the sedan with warning lights activated, police allege the driver started the vehicle and, after being directed to stop, drove towards a male constable, striking him before allegedly colliding with a marked police vehicle.
The sedan then allegedly drove from the carpark and continued south along Sydney Road.
Police initiated a second pursuit after the driver again allegedly failed to stop. That pursuit was later terminated near Lagoon Street due to safety concerns.
The constable suffered a minor leg injury and did not require further medical treatment.
Following inquiries, police arrested a 16-year-old boy at a Goulburn home about 6am on Sunday.
He was taken to Goulburn Police Station and charged with two counts of police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously, using an offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention, assaulting a police officer in the execution of duty without actual bodily harm, failing to stop when directed, failing to give particulars to another driver, negligent driving, two counts of using an obscured or defaced number plate, two counts of a learner driver exceeding the speed limit by more than 45km/h, and three counts of a learner driver not being accompanied by a supervising driver.
The teenager was refused bail and is due to appear before the Children's Court Bail Division on Monday, 10 August 2026.
