Sydney Trains to speak at EVA meeting on planned station upgrade
Representatives from Sydney Trains will address a meeting of the Exeter Village Association (EVA) on Monday (November 9) about a planned upgrade of Exeter railway station.

Representatives from Sydney Trains will address a meeting of the Exeter Village Association (EVA) on Monday (November 9) about a planned upgrade of Exeter railway station.
Exeter residents are being invited to attend Monday’s EVA meeting at the Exeter Hall at 6pm to hear more about the project.
The meeting will commence at 6.30pm with a presentation from the Sydney Trains project team and an opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback.
The meeting will then continue with regular EVA business.
As reported by The Southern Wire, Sydney Trains is planning to upgrade the station to address stability and safety issues.
It will include the complete reconstruction of both platforms and a range of other works including improvements to drainage and accessibility, new lighting and platform furniture, landscaping and tree removal.
Residents have expressed concerns over the number of mature trees that will be removed as part of the project and its overall impact on the village’s character.
Fifteen trees have been identified for removal – 14 of them because of “fatal encroachments” on their root zones and one because it is considered an undesirable invasive weed species.
Those concerns have been acknowledged by Member for Goulburn Wendy Tuckerman, who has also raised questions about consultation and transparency in relation to the project.
An EVA spokesperson said Exeter station held a “special place” in the village.
“Our shared priority is to ensure the proposed works have been thoroughly and accurately assessed with appropriate consideration given to long-term sustainability, safety and the station’s heritage, character and community significance,” the spokesperson said.
“We welcome a respectful and constructive discussion with the project team.”
