Southern Highlands man faces allegations carrying 108 years maximum jail

A Southern Highlands man accused of multiple child sexual offences faces a three-day trial later this year.
The trial is scheduled to commence on October 28.
The accused is due to reappear before Goulburn Local Court on June 3 in several related matters, including two apprehended violence order proceedings.
The identity of the accused man is known to The Southern Wire. We are not naming him at this stage as we must avoid identifying the alleged victims. Once we are certain that victims cannot be identified we will name the man.
The accused faces nine charges including alleged intentionally sexually touching a child aged between 10 and 16 years and alleged intentionally sexually touching a child under 10 years.
Under NSW law, intentionally sexually touching a child aged between 10 and 16 carries a maximum penalty of 10 years imprisonment for each charge if found guilty, while intentionally sexually touching a child under the age of 10 carries a maximum penalty of 16 years imprisonment for each charge if found guilty.
The accused was refused bail. In refusing bail, the court cited concerns the man could commit a serious offence, endanger the safety of alleged victims or the community, or interfere with witnesses or evidence.
The accused has not entered pleas to the charges.
