A run of high yielding yearlings to suit the trade selling from 526c to 572c/kg was the highlight of the 2030, fair to outstanding quality cattle, almost double the yarding of last week, along with 40 cows and calves returning to the paddock. All categories were well supplied and a full field of buyers were operating, selling to a variable market.
Yearlings to process attracted strong competition resulting in dearer trends, with the grain assisted B muscled types ranging from 526c to 572c, and the C muscled types made from 435c to 502c/kg. Feeder steers were price unchanged selling from 400c to 496c, and heifers to feed were slightly cheaper compared to last week’s strong prices, to average 423c/kg. Weaner steers suiting the re-stockers ranged in quality, resulting in a wide range of prices, selling from 300c to 568c, and the heifer portion attracted strong competition from the restockers and feedlot buyers ranging from 280c to 518c/kg.
Heavy grown steers lifted 4c making from 390c to 490c, and the heifers were firm to a few cents better ranging from 380c to 460c/kg. Lighter and leaner cows were a few cents dearer, selling from 230c to 340c and the heavy 3 and 4 scores, price unchanged with the best making 424c, to average 387c/kg. Heavy bulls to process ranged from 355c to 410c/kg.
