Get saddled up for the Moss Vale Public School Country Fair this Friday evening, 6 November from 4pm – 7pm, with a Wild West theme.

“A huge thank you must go to our community (including sponsors, prize donors, in-kind donors, school staff and volunteers - kids included!),” Saskia Sharp, Moss Vale Public School's P&C Country Fair Coordinator told The Southern Wire.

“The last three fairs have contributed towards our brand-new playground, which people will get a ‘sneak peek’ at on Friday (although not yet officially open).

“Funds raised from this year's fair have been left open to the discretion of the school, and we also have a prize pool of over $9,000 from many fantastic businesses in our separate lollipop raffle (to be held at the fair).”

Moss Vale Public School Principal Katherine Hurst told The Southern Wire that the country fairs had been running at the school since 2018, and that the money raised would go to a number of projects and ideas that are being floated to improve the school’s facilities and learning programs.

“We have discussed a few big ideas for the funds raised - suggestions have included purchasing outdoor building blocks (loose parts) and to support the cost of additional staff to provide greater in - class support,” Mrs. Hurst said.

“We are also keen to start to raise funds for cooling solutions for the hall (fans or air-conditioning) and we hope that across a year the P&C’s smaller fundraising efforts can also support reducing the costs of excursions for families.”

The Country Fair’s website states that the 2026 version is ‘shaping up to be bigger, brighter and more joyful than ever, bringing together the school, families and the wider Southern Highlands community for an afternoon packed with rides, entertainment, activities, food, stalls and plenty of Wild West fun.’

"From thrilling rides and classic carnival games to delicious food, local talent and treasures to take home, there will be something to keep cowboys, cowgirls and fairgoers of all ages entertained,” it states.

"So, dust off your boots, grab your hat and get ready to saddle up for the biggest MVPS Country Fair yet!"

Rides, games and entertainment for the kids will include mechanical rides such as Round Up, a Giant Slide, Wizard Flight and the ever-popular Tea Cups.

There will also be inflatable fun for the younger 'cowboys and cowgirls', including a Ninja Obstacle Course, PAW Patrol Combination Castle and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Combo Castle.

And of course, there will be the all – important Side Show Alley, featuring loads of new and improved games and plenty of chances to win prizes and show off your fairground skills.

There will also be pony rides, Matilda's Farmyard Petting Zoo and Smart Arts Wild West face painting.

"This year we're thrilled to have local sporting clubs, community organisations and businesses bringing free interactive activities and demonstrations to the fair," Ms. Sharp added.

"You can try something new, learn a new skill or simply have some fun!

“Look out for organisations such as Moss Vale Football Club, Moss Vale & District Basketball Association, Highlands Step Savvy Line Dancing, Moss Vale Dragonflies Netball Club, and the River Road Creative Academy.”
