Members of the Robertson Business Chamber (RBC) dressed in their finest last Friday night for the Illawarra Business Awards, held at the WIN Entertainment Centre.
Now into its 30th year, this year’s awards theme was ‘The Art of Impact - Together We Paint the Bigger Picture', and the Robertson Business Chamber were joined by 600 other business leaders from across the Southern Highlands, Shoalhaven and Illawarra, with a record number of entries over 17 categories.
President of the RBC, Jennifer Macquarie told The Southern Wire that they were a finalist in the awards.
Although they didn’t bring home the trophy this time around (that title went to the much larger Shoalhaven Business Chamber), Ms. Macquarie was gracious in defeat.
“The SBC is doing amazing work, and they are a deserving winner,” she said.
“It was also really inspiring to hear about the amazing and innovative businesses we have in the region. For Robertson, it was great to be a finalist and recognised for the work that we do to support the local economy and our small business membership. 2025 has been a huge year for the village, with the 30th anniversary of the Babe movie being filmed here, and we also won the ‘People’s Choice’ category in the NSW Small Town Tourism Awards.”
Mrs. Macquarie also said that it was great to spend the evening with another Highlands based finalist, Stefano Marvello, who runs an Italian cooking school in Bowral.
“He was a finalist in the Micro Business category,” she said.
“His business is doing so well that he is about to expand into new premises.”
Ms. Macquarie also stated that next year she would like to see the Southern Highlands better represented at the awards.
“I would encourage people to enter next year – there are categories for all sizes and types of businesses,” she added.
The next major business awards ceremony will be the NSW State Business Awards held at the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Darling Harbour, Sydney on Wednesday, 29 October.
