Repoly director Nancy Zheng continues the conversation with The Southern Wire. In part two of our special series Zheng confirms Repoly will not back down in their court fight.

On 12 August Wingecarribee Shire Council voted to stay out of the Repoly appeal. Pressed for comment on that decision, Zheng was ‘following it closely.’

Zheng heaped praise on the six councillors who voted against seeking legal advice, calling their decision ‘rational’ and ‘responsible to ratepayers.’  Further, the six councillors had a ‘comprehensive understanding of the matter’ and ‘carefully weighed the cost and potential outcome of the appeal.’

Asked about Theo Onisforou’s campaign against Repoly, Zheng had ‘no comment.’

Repoly shows no signs of backing down. They intend to vigorously pursue their appeal. 'A small number of people in the community continue to spread misinformation, which damages our company’s reputation. We have been collecting evidence' Zheng warns.

Repoly has fired a costs warning; if they win, the respondents will be hit with the bill. 'If the respondents, without credible high quality expert reports choose to make unreasonable demands, refuse settlement and force the matter to a hearing, which causes us unnecessary costs, we will protect our rights through legal means' cautions Zheng.

Opponents argue the site is not the right site, but when asked if Repoly would sell and look elsewhere, Zheng’s answer was blunt: ‘No comment.

Battlelines are drawn; this fight is far from over.

We shall continue to update readers throughout the court proceedings.
