The Tina Macpherson Cup final between Moss Vale and Wingello was a washout this week. Wingello took home the trophy as the leading team of the season.
The eponymous Tina Macpherson cup, now in its sixth year is named after one of Australia’s pioneers of women’s cricket. Macpherson played one test match and five one day internationals for Australia in 1972/1973, famously taking 5-14 on debut.
In the competitions first season, three teams contested the Cup. With the steady growth of women’s cricket across the Highlands, the 2025/26 competition extended to eight teams: Marulan, Bundanoon, Hill Top, Mittagong, Moss Vale, Wingello and two teams from Robertson,
The final was scheduled to be played at Stephens Park, Bowral. Unfortunately, the cricket gods and the weather gods had a disagreement and the bad weather won.
Despite the best efforts of Moss Vale players, who attempted to clear the pooling water from the pitch and outfield, conditions were declared unsafe and play could not begin.
As the top-placed side at the end of the regular season, Wingello were declared the 2025/26 Tina Macpherson Cup champions.
Macpherson was on hand to present the trophy to Wingello.
