Wollondilly Shire Council has once again seen positive results from its 2025 staff survey, with very high staff engagement and alignment demonstrating a high-performance culture which flows directly to great services for the Wollondilly community.

Wollondilly Shire Council has once again seen positive results from its 2025 staff survey, with very high staff engagement and alignment demonstrating a high-performance culture which flows directly to great services for the Wollondilly community.
Overall, Wollondilly has remained in the top 5% of all benchmarked councils with 73% of staff favourably engaged (scoring 6 or 7 out of 7 on the scale), revealing strong emotional connections to the organisation and the Shire, positive attitudes, and a willingness to go the extra mile for the team and the community.
This year, the annual survey also measured staff alignment with the organisational strategic plan, showing that all Council’s directorates are in the top 10% when it comes to alignment factors such as leadership, effectiveness and long-term direction.
The major highlights show Wollondilly Shire Council has outscored all other councils when it comes to staff recommending Wollondilly as a workplace to their family and friends, recognition of achievements and being kept updated on organisational goals, showing that the organisation’s investment in its people is paying off.
Support for work-life balance has increased since last year, with 82% of staff stating that ‘Wollondilly Shire Council helps me to achieve the ideal work life balance’, while team effectiveness was in the top decile for the whole organisation with teams identified as having a strong customer service culture.
While there are still some areas that need refinement, the survey showed once again that staff are embracing a high-performance culture and want to provide an even better service for the Wollondilly community.
“As we continue on our path to be the best Council we can possibly be in the eyes of our community, I’m pleased to see that Wollondilly remains in the top 5% of benchmark councils for engagement and is in the top 10% for alignment,” CEO Ben Taylor said.
“Our employees care about the direction we are going and are living out the values and vision of the organisation in their day to day activities.
“Employee engagement directly leads to high performance and ultimately better services for the community. When employees are engaged and aligned to the organisation’s strategic plan they demonstrate motivation, productivity and pride in the organisation.
“I continue to be grateful every day for the wonderful people here who proudly serve the Wollondilly community. We will continue to invest in our people and are listening closely to their feedback, so that we can support their efforts and improve even further.”
Mayor Matt Gould echoed Mr Taylor’s statements.
“I would like to commend everyone at Council including the CEO and Senior Leadership team on their extraordinary efforts at building such a healthy, positive culture,” he said.
“Ben Taylor has continued to demonstrate the highest levels of integrity and care for people since day one, and this has never wavered.
“Council understands that increased staff engagement translates directly to increased performance and improved service delivery, which is why we set staff engagement as a key performance measure for our CEO.
“Thank you to all our staff on behalf of Council for everything you do for our community.”
