Poor old DAISY – it’s goodbye for now

Like a trainee who didn’t perform on the job, DAISY - Wingecarribee Shire Council’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) planning assistant - has been given the flick.
Council has confirmed that DAISY would be progressively removed from its website following the completion of a 15-month pilot.
DAISY (Development Application Information System) was launched in May 2025 as part of council’s commitment to customer service.
DAISY was available 24/7 using AI to provide general planning advice and support for preparing residential Development Applications (DAs).
Council’s general manager Lisa Miscamble said council had already achieved significant progress in DA processing times, with the DAISY pilot providing valuable insights into how AI can help people access planning information and navigate the early stages of the DA process - as well as where improvements are needed.
“We will use these learnings to inform the next evolution of AI, with a focus on improving the quality and efficiency of DA assessment,” Mrs Miscamble said.
But for DAISY it’s the end of the line. No farewell morning tea with colleagues or parting gift – just a flick of a switch and she’s gone.
Mrs Miscamble said council was on track to achieve its revised goal to exceed the NSW average for DA processing times by September 2026.
“In July, 89 per cent of 35 DAs were determined within the NSW Government’s expected timeframe.
“That is 20 percentage points above the NSW average of 69 per cent and our highest monthly result since July 2024,” Mrs Miscamble said.
Council will continue to explore how AI and other digital tools can improve customer experiences and service delivery.
Residents were told in May last year that DAISY was currently in Version 1 so she may be back with a new look – if she still wants the job.
