Police officer stable after alleged stabbing

A police officer is in a stable condition after allegedly being stabbed tonight.

A police officer is in a stable condition after allegedly being stabbed near Camden.

Police from the Camden Police Area Command were called to a home on Werombi Road, Grasmere, at about 5.20pm today (Friday) following reports that a 20-year-old man had allegedly breached an apprehended violence order.

Polce attempted to arrest the man but he allegedly threw a spear at officers before stabbing a 23-year-old police officer in the leg.

The probationary constable was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being airlifted to Liverpool Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Police have established a crime scene at the home and have seized a knife, a hatchet and a spear for forensic examination.

Camden detectives have commenced an investigation into the incident.
