Police academy to host open day
Local residents considering a career in policing are being encouraged to attend an open day at the NSW Police Academy in Goulburn this Saturday, September 26.

As part of the day there will be mock crime scenes, interactive displays and facility tours.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to speak with specialist police and to explore more than 150 years of NSW Police Force history at the academy’s museum.
The open day will take place between 10am and 2pm with no price for general admission.
However visitors have the option of purchasing a $23 ticket which includes a sit-down buffet-style meal in the academy’s dining hall.
There will also be a sausage sizzle and other light refreshments available for purchase on the day.
The NSW Police Force Academy is a state-of-the-art law enforcement facility and is considered one of the top police training facilities in the world.
Its facilities include a virtual weapons training facility, simunition training venues, a scenario village, a police driver training facility and live fire pistol ranges.
A NSW Police Force spokesperson said a career as a police officer was “challenging but rewarding”.
There are more than 200 different roles in the police force ranging from general duties to specialist officers but everyone worked as part of a team to make a difference in the community, the spokesperson said.
The Police Academy is located in McDermott Drive, Goulburn.
A spokesperson said there would be two separate public entrances on open day – one via the pedestrian access gate in McDermott Drive and one via academy’s rear gate at the lower end of McDermott Drive. Entry to the academy will be restricted to visitors who have registered via the Eventbrite platform and who have been issued an event ticket.
Registrations will close at 4pm on Friday, September 25.
There will be two parking zones on the day.
Blue Zone Parking can be accessed via the rear gate on McDermott Drive, between Howard Boulevarde and Wollondilly River bridge at Victoria Street.
Red Zone Parking can be accessed via Middle Arm Road, between Tarlo Street and McDermott Drive.
Visitors are strongly advised to ‘carpool’ due to limited parking.
The Police Academy has advised that certain areas within the academy grounds, including the primary access point to the museum, are accessible only via steps.
Members of the public with mobility limitations are advised that access to these locations may be restricted.
