Plastics battle: Locals called to help make the case
Residents of the Southern Highlands are being invited to give evidence when the legal battle over the proposed Moss Vale plastics recycling facility comes before the Land and Environment Court for the hearing in October.

Residents of the Southern Highlands are being invited to give evidence when the legal battle over the proposed Moss Vale plastics recycling facility comes before the Land and Environment Court for the hearing in October.
The Independent Planning Commission has called for expressions of interest from people who want to provide objector evidence during the on-site component of the hearing into Repoly Pty Ltd's appeal against the refusal of the controversial project.
The Court has listed the appeal for hearing from October 19 to 30, with the first day to be held at the proposed development site or a nearby facility.
Members of the public can now apply to speak during that first day, although the Court has warned it may not be able to accommodate everyone who expresses an interest.
Under the Court's Site Inspections Policy, in most circumstances a maximum of six witnesses will be invited to provide evidence on site.
Anyone wanting to be considered must email an expression of interest to the Independent Planning Commission by 5pm on September 18 with the subject line "Moss Vale Plastics Recycling – Hearing – EOI". The email address is ipcn@ipcn.nsw.gov.au
The email must include the person's full name and contact details, residential address, whether they represent another person or group, and the topics they want to address.
Importantly, residents who previously applied to speak during the Court-ordered section 34 conciliation conference must apply again if they want to be considered for the October hearing.
Repoly Pty Ltd, formerly Plasrefine Recycling Pty Ltd, launched the Class 1 merit appeal after the Independent Planning Commission refused development consent for the Moss Vale Plastics Recycling Facility in January 2025.
Written submissions previously provided to the Commission during its determination of the application will be made available to the Court.
During the appeal, the Land and Environment Court will stand in the place of the Commission as the consent authority.
