A key staff member at Oxley College has left the school on a Code of Conduct matter.

Acting Head of College, Mark Case, has advised the school community that Mr Kieran Staples would not be returning to the school.

Mr Staples was Head of Dobell House.

“It is important to make very clear that this does not relate to child protection,” Mr Case said.

“I acknowledge and understand that the sudden departure of Mr Staples may be upsetting and that members of our community will have questions.

“However, as this is an employment matter, for reasons of privacy neither I nor College staff can comment any further on these circumstances.”

The school’s refusal to comment is fuelling rumour.

Mr Case said the school was “very conscious” of the potential impacts on students and would be speaking to Dobell students as well as Mr Staples’ Year 11 class.

“We will be moving quickly to ensure classes are suitably reallocated and to appoint an Acting Head of Dobell House for the remainder of 2026 as soon as possible,” Mr Case said.

“Thank you for your understanding.”

It is the second time this year that one of the region’s most prestigious schools has been thrown into controversy.

The King’s School parted ways with its headmaster Tony George in January over allegations that he allegedly ‘clipped’ a student over the head at its Sydney campus.
