New brochure to help preserve heritage
Goulburn-Mulwaree Council has launched a new brochure to help preserve the area’s built heritage.

Goulburn-Mulwaree Council has launched a new brochure to help preserve the area’s built heritage.
The brochure – ‘Our Heritage - Our Shared Responsibility’ – is designed to people understand how heritage properties are managed and cared for across the area.
The brochure has been developed as practical and easy-to-use guide for property owners as well as buyers, sellers, tenants and industry professionals including real estate agents and conveyancers.
It provides clear information on heritage management responsibilities, development and maintenance requirements and outlines the support available through council – including its free Heritage Advisory Service.
“By bringing together key heritage information together in one place, the brochure aims to build confidence, reduce confusion and encourage informed decision-making when dealing with heritage-listed properties,” a council spokesperson said.
The entire Goulburn central business district (CBD) falls within the Goulburn City Heritage Conservation Area and there are management implications for commercial and residential owners/tenancies in this location.
However there are more than 600 items listed under Schedule 5 of Council’s Local Environmental Plan – some of then outside the Goulburn City Heritage Conservation Area or existing within other heritage conservation areas across the shire.
Hard copies of the brochure have already been circulated through the Goulburn City Heritage Conservation Area to ensure key heritage information is readily available to local commercial and residential property owners.
Digital copies of the brochure – along with supporting fact sheets for both residential and commercial properties – are also available on council’s website.
More information is available at goulburn.nsw.gov.au or by contacting council on 4823 4444.
