Member for Goulburn Wendy Tuckerman is questioning the level of consultation over the renaming of four mental health inpatient units – three of them Goulburn.

Member for Goulburn Wendy Tuckerman is questioning the level of consultation over the renaming of four mental health inpatient units – three of them in Goulburn.
Mrs Tuckerman said she had been contacted by the Southern NSW Local Health District advising that three units in Goulburn and one in Bega would be renamed after “extensive” consultation.
However, she said she was unaware of any consultation occurring and had been in contact with Goulburn-Mulwaree Council who had also been left in the dark.
She is keen to hear from anyone who was actually involved in the consultation process.
The Chisholm Ross Centre at Goulburn Base Hospital will be renamed Yuurrawaang Unit (meaning ‘strong/brave’) while the David Morgan Centre at Kenmore Hospital will be renamed Yurrabii Unit (‘walk’).
The Ron Hemmings Centre, also at Kenmore Hospital, will be renamed Yaddung bil Unit (‘health/better’).
Mrs Tuckerman said she had contacted the Southern NSW Local Health District seeking more information about the consultation process including a copy of the consultation plan and information on who was consulted.
She also wants to know how much the renaming process will actually cost and whether it will be funded out of the existing SNSWHD budget or if additional funding has been provided.
Anyone involved in the consultation has been asked to contact Mrs Tuckerman’s office on 4822 6444 or via email at goulburn@parliament.nsw.gov.au
Mrs Tuckerman said community feedback was important as she continued to seek “clarity and transparency” on decisions affecting local health services.
