Moss Vale RSL Strengthens Executive Team
The Moss Vale RSL Sub-Branch has resolved a number of executive and committee positions following an Extraordinary General Meeting held on May 11.

The Moss Vale RSL Sub-Branch has resolved a number of executive and committee positions following an Extraordinary General Meeting held on May 11.
The meeting was called after administrative inconsistencies were identified within the Sub-Branch executive structure.
Sub-Branch President Allan Watt said some executive and committee positions had gradually become vacant over time due to retirements and members moving away.
“Filling those gaps always proved difficult and on some occasions holders of other executive or committee positions stepped up to fill the gap resulting in them holding two executive positions,” Mr Watt said.
“On investigation it was shown that to hold more than one executive or committee position is against the constitution. So we called the Extraordinary General Meeting to clear things up.”
Mr Watt said all matters were resolved without issue.
Geoffrey Webb remains Vice President after stepping down as Trustee, while Peter Emery and Chris Tutin were elected as Trustees unopposed.
A casual vacancy also arose for the Honorary Secretary role, with Richard Batterley elected unopposed.
Mr Watt said Mr Batterley would bring extensive experience to the role.
“In his professional career Richard held a very senior management position with a multi-national marketing consultancy group and is currently the Chair of the Industry Advisory Panel for a higher education institute,” he said.
“To have this experience on our Executive will help us enormously.”
The Moss Vale RSL Sub-Branch has now launched a recruitment drive for new members.
Anyone currently serving or previously serving with the Australian Defence Force is eligible for Service Membership, while people with relatives who served or who share interests aligned with the RSL are eligible for Affiliate Membership.
Further information about joining the Sub-Branch can be obtained by emailing Moss-ValeSB@rslnsw.org.au.
