A home in Moss Vale has suffered extensive damage after a fire broke out on Sunday afternoon.
Just after 4pm, crews from Fire and Rescue NSW stations at Moss Vale and Bowral, along with volunteers from Moss Vale and Berrima Rural Fire Brigades, were called to reports of a house fire on Amarina Road.
When firefighters arrived, they found the home well alight and quickly established a containment line to stop the blaze spreading to nearby properties.
While crews were able to confine the fire to the front section of the house, the remainder of the property sustained significant smoke and water damage.
No one was inside the home at the time and there were no reported injuries.
Firefighters also discovered the property did not have a working smoke alarm.
With winter underway and heating appliances being used more frequently, Fire and Rescue NSW is urging residents to check their smoke alarms are working properly.
Residents wanting advice on home fire safety or assistance checking smoke alarms can contact their local Fire and Rescue NSW station to arrange a free Home Fire Safety Visit.
