Massive response to fire in Bowral
There was a massive emergency response to a fire in Bowral late this afternoon (Wednesday). Fire and Rescue NSW and NSW Rural Fire Service crews from across the region rushed to The Grand Hotel complex at approximately 4.45pm.

Police and ambulance also attended and Bong Bong Street closed to traffic.
Members of the public called 000 after noticing smoke billowing from the roof of The Grand Hotel complex.
Denzel Patino – whose step-father owns BD’s Woodfired Pizza and Pasta – confirmed the chimney in the restaurant’s kitchen had caught fire.
Mr Patino was preparing the restaurant for a 5pm opening when he noticed an electrical smell and suspected the chimney was on fire.
He went outside and also saw smoke billowing from the roof.
By that stage a large group of spectators had already gathered opposed the complex in Corbett Plaza.
Mr Patino said there had been four employees inside the restaurant at the time of the incident.
They helped to tell people to evacuate the building before joining spectators on the other side of the street to watch the action unfold.
Firefighters were forced to use a set of stairs at the rear of the complex to fight the fire from above.
Mr Patino said there had been no smoke inside the restaurant and no visible flames.
He said there was no smoke or fire damage to the restaurant or the kitchen but he was waiting to get back inside the building to check if there had been any water damage.
He said he was pleased there had been nobody injured.
Firefighters were still on the scene – and Bong Bong still closed to traffic – when The Southern Wire left at 6pm.
The entire complex was also still roped off – meaning people couldn’t access The Grand Hotel restaurant.
“We won’t be having dinner at The Grand tonight,” one man told The Southern Wire as he watched on from Corbett Plaza.
